DCL DVC Current Member Pitch

I feel like a family would outgrow the bedroom situation rather quickly. It's fine when the kids are young and small but does mom and dad want their 12 year olds in the bedroom with them for a week? I wouldn't want to buy a 50 year deed for that. Long and the short of it is the cabins are 100% not my vibe.
Quite a few people who buy into DVC stay in studios, so clearly there is a market. At least with the Fort there is a Murphy bed in the other room, just like a 1 bedroom villa.

To me, it’s not that different from the 1 bedroom set up, especially given the points difference. Put your 12 year old in the Murphy bed and walk quietly to the bathroom, and save a ton of points.

We wouldn’t want to own there for other reasons, but I think the bedroom setup really is overblown. And if you really need the bathroom attached to your room, pay the points for a 1 bedroom.

For us, the Cabin is way better than a studio at not much greater a point cost. We are usually only 2 in the Cabin, but it's great to have the full kitchen. Plus, since we have really cut back on our visits to the parks, it gives a really nice escape that feels all to its own and you can vacation with your dog, which for dog owners is a huge plus. And, if you want to go to the parks, the MK is a short boat ride away and the other parks are easily accessible by car (we drive).

The downside is the extra expenses do add up ($75/nt for a golf cart, $30/nt for a dog, etc.). That said, the cabins have become our new go-to... if we can get them at 7-months, which has been a huge challenge lately...

Considering the non-availability of CFW at 7 months, I think it's for the reasons above that people are booking the limited DVC inventory of cabins. I have one lined up for 3 nights next month and as much as I'd like to book another stay there just isn't any availability inside 7 months!

Which makes you wonder if the popularity for booking but not owning might play into their decision on whether to incorporate them with LSL in some way.

I was thinking about that the other day. How right now my wife and I are considering to add on at Lakeshore, but if the cabins are folded into it we may have to change that plan.

The “buy where you want to stay” generally means resort, but if we have to take into account room type as well? I mean sure you may have to consider not being able to get a studio or a lower point 1 bedroom, but if we were stuck staying in a cabin for a week I’m pretty sure she’d ensure that contract would be on the resale market the day we got back.

I think I'd take the opposite view - priority booking at such a wide range of accommodations could make a LSL/CFW package very attractive. If you already have a home tower-like resort that is your main go-to at the 11-month mark, and you already have all the points you need there, why buy a new resort like LSL unless there is something particularly amazing about it over your current home resort? Now, wrap it into a package where you have priority booking at either the cabins or the newest tower resort - that sounds like a pretty nice package to me. Presumably, the people who have bought CFW to date are people who are legitimately big fans of the cabins. I also think you'd need more info about the inventory to see how well a CFW/LSL combo would work. It also seems to me that it's not that dissimilar from the current situation at Poly where existing PVB members now have access to the tower, and so it is very difficult to book some of the tower rooms at the 11-month mark - that may well be temporary until all of the tower inventory is declared.
