DCL Disney Magic At Sea UK Residents Only Sailing Summer 2021 General Information

I mean the entire buffet is gone. There was only a menu. I noticed a seafood antipasti on the menu that we ordered that had a few items from the buffet but the rest of the menu looked the same as before but just without the entire buffet.

In my opinion without the buffet it is not worth $45 extra, I actually preferred the food at Lumiere's. I hope they bring it back!
Wow. I wonder if the is a Covid change or if that is the new Palo menu. Very disappointed.

That is disappointing - will have to take a look at the menu and see if there’s enough we still like the sound of… are you limited to how many you can order?
I think I’d read that they’ll still bring a basket of bread and pastries to the table?

One more question Karen, if you don’t mind?

Mixology sounds like it’s really just a tasting then, rather than any cocktail making… again one for me to weigh up, so do you know which cocktails it was you got to try?

Thanks!

I'm not sure, I thought they would have done the buffet like Cabanas and just have someone behind the counter serving instead of self service.

No limit on what you order so we ordered both antipasti (seafood and the cheese and ham)

We got bread to the table with a good selection but no pastries.

Ye it really was a tasting and the host was so nice but he could only talk about the cocktails. We had martini, a Bahama mama of sorts, a baileys type shot, a caprini and a champagne cocktail. I'll have pictures up on insta today (karenbeeyt) and it'll be in my vlog going up tomorrow I think if you what to see it in pictures / video

- Lots of people had their cards rejected on the last day (a $ transactions out of nowhere is a little suspicious so my bank blocked it) and you will need to go to guest services to sort this out. As you can imagine it was busy. You can't leave the ship without clearing your room account as they scan your card on the way out and they didn't auto try again so even if you OK it with your bank you will need to go guest services unless they change this. Make sure you allow time for this.

About this, is this something you need to seek help with, with your own bank maybe before you go?
As most people are aware, that currency on the ship is $$.

I'm from Belgium, when I went to America (twice), I had to go to my bank, and they had to activate my VISA for being used in America, otherwise I either couldn't use it, or probably like you are saying, it would have gotten blocked with so many $$ transactions instead of €€.

When I moved to the UK, my VISA company was picking up lots of ££ transactions, but this time, my bank hadn't told me I needed to do something specific with that as it is in Europe (and European Union at the time), but still my VISA company blocked my card due to all the ££ transactions.

A tip we learnt before going State side a few years ago was to get a Revolute Card, which we load with USD. The rate you get is almost like the interbank rate, so more than you would get if you went to the Pist Office etc. (Right now you would get 1.3356 to £ with PO or 1.3794 to £ with Revolute Card as an example)

The account was easy to set up, we have used it for years in the USA. We have linked that account/card to our DCL bookimg, so won’t have to pay any hidden bank charges when we use our card. Just make sure you top up the card 😃.

you pay to top up at weekends, but not weekdays.

other cards which are similar are available…….

hope that helps 😎🤩

Ye I used to contact my bank in advance and say I was going away so I guess people could do that and say you were going to have that $$ transaction and it might be OK but a lot of these stops are automatic and usually you would just answer a text / notification confirming it is you and then the transaction could be completed. I use Revolut and I just had to login to the app (we were at port and I had signal) and confirm it was me and then ask guest services to try the transaction again.

Is it a folding manual wheelchair? I would bring it just in case. I believe DCL is planning to move people through the check-in and boarding process fairly quickly to avoid crowds. But there may or may not be seating while waiting — in the terminal or onboard. And if there is anything DCL can do to make his cruise easier,
Yes it’s folding manual- I just had visions of it being cumbersome around the ship.
I think I bring it though thank you for the help

Not sure how I messed that reply up!
Anyway- thank you for replying, it is a folding manual so I think I will bring it.
I was just worried it would be cumbersome around the ship 😂

Would he be able to use a rollator (walker with seat) in the terminal if you expect to be ok onboard the ship? A rollator folds more compactly than a manual chair. Or would a cane/seat work? It's a cane that opens out to a 3-leg stool. Just some options to consider.

Well, my holiday starts 10 days early, DW and I have had a covid isolation order that ends right before our cruise. o_O

Thankfully it ends on the 20th and we don't board until 23rd and we both tested negative, but my employer sure isn't happy...oh well, Brave New World!

I have a feeling I’ve seen one of the health questions you have to answer on embarkation day asks if you’ve been told to isolate in the last 14 days (not just the 10 you have to isolate for)… not sure what the impact of that question is, if it’s one of the deal breakers for being allowed to board?

Possibly. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Edit:

From what can make out from the small print, it appears we qualify for a full refund if we want one, but it doesn't explicitly say we can't sail, so I'll see what I find out from DCL when they respond.

Edit 2:

DCL can't give me an answer until Dreams Unlimited Travel contacts them. 🙄. So I've emailed my Dreams Agent and asked her to do so.

Edit 3:

DCL says if we test negative on the day we're fine to board. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Dreams sorted this pretty quickly, I had an initial email back within the hour.

I agree - Lumieres definitely had the best all round menu on the test cruise

Does anyone know if pin trading is going to be possible on these cruises? We’re going on the 6th August one
I’m guessing not, but thinking of packing and stuff

I can't seem to find it, what time is the ship supposed to leave Liverpool? Since it's sold out it's not on the website anymore, and looking at aboard times for London & Southampton, the times are different.
