DCL Disney Magic At Sea UK Residents Only Sailing Summer 2021 General Information

OK, so I can't book then? I don't drive at all, so no licence. My boyfriend has a motorbike licence.

Of course you can! Register ANY Disney account using your UK address.

I have a feeling this "only for UK resident " thing is just purely to avoid people flying in from abroad (mostly from US because they would be happy to fly here to get on a Disney Cruise I assume :) ).
You are a UK resident. You live here, you pay tax here, you pay NI here, You have a UK Bank Account.
You have nothing to worry about!

During check in you will need a government issued ID. I guess you weren`t born here (UK) so you must have an ID issued by the country you were born in or a Passport.

It does not have to be issued by the UK government it just needs to be an ID issued by any government so you can proof your identity.

The credit card you will use I assume will be issued my a UK bank ... that`s another proof that you are UK resident. (Even If you use your boyfriend`s Credit Card won`t matter).

Just in case you can bring your NI or NHS card to the dock. But I doubt they will check it.

YOU ARE GOOD!

Also just register an account on Shopdisney UK and buy something for your UK address. I`m positive they will only check where is your Disney account registered to.... If you already had delivered something there you are golden.

Do you have ANY Disney Account at all?

Thank you :)

I do have an account at shop Disney UK. And one in the US (I registered the lion King run Disney last week).

I wasn't born here no, I have an ID card where I'm from and an international passport.
I have pay slips from working in the UK.

If using debit card, that's a UK card.
I also kept my euro account as it's easy to keep when my parents send me some money sometimes for birthdays and such, but even that account is registered on my UK address since the day I moved here.
I mean, I can use my boyfriends details and card if I should book. Just getting a bit scared now when it all comes together, they'll say I don't have the correct things that say I actually do live here and they won't let me on or something like that.

I'll have a look at that provincial licence thing. Might just make things easier in general, as proof of address for me in England is usually a bit of a pain.

If you are living here it’s a really good idea to get a provisional driving license. You will need either a driving license or a UK passport to sail. A shopDisney account won’t help here, sorry!

Just been talking about that to him, regardless of this cruise, it might be a good idea anyways. As in 2 years I need to show I've been here for 5 years and sadly I have little to show for that. So that license might help with that too.

Was filling in the form, and I've only been here for 2 years and 6 months, and you need to enter up to 3 years of addresses in the UK. So no cruise it is then 🙁

Thats in pre Covid times, when the passengers have been a mix of all nationalities when there has been a minority of first time cruisers. These summer 2021 cruises will have a very different mix of passengers onboard, the majority will be first time cruisers and I can totally understand the worry of them turning into booze cruises. Any experiences of previous DCL cruises right now are void, as these cruises are a totally new experience, with a very different type of passengers than before Covid. Worry about the high level of alcohol consumption is a valid fear as UK people have a very different attitude to drinking and alcohol than American people.

The lack of a drinks package would certainly deter UK first time cruisers who are used to drinks packages on other cruise lines and on cheap package holidays to Spain and The Canary Islands. The availability of cheap alcohol will certainly be a deciding factor for people when they choosing which UK staycation cruise to choose this summer.
I totally understand your point, however I find it pretty offensive that you are tarring every UK adult effectively as an alcoholic?! (Over 40 million people)I highly doubt that availability of cheap alcohol is going to be a deciding factor for as many people as you believe. I think the biggest factor will be cost of the Cruise first! Obviously dates too as for Newcastle and Tilbury it is outside of Summer hols, so I imagine there will be less school age children on those.
I admit that many Brits like other nations such as the Irish do like to drink, but I am pretty certain that those who go away to get drunk as a skunk will stick to Ibiza, Marbella, etc. And likely won’t be thinking about a Disney Cruise.
Although it will be different clientele in the main, there are going to be an awful lot of cruisers who have done DCL before (I know at least 15 friends who will be booking who are not first timers). If there are any rowdy people they will be dealt with by Disney appropriately. This is obviously just my opinion and I am probably being over sensitive, but please don’t tar us all as alcoholics..

I would ring and speak to DCL before you dismiss it. No one knows what they will accept but if you were, for example buying a house you would need two form of ID - one photo and one for your address and this can be shown in a number of ways including a bank statement. It may be as simple as when you book the card you pay with has to be registered to a UK address but I’m guessing now. I hate the though of someone missing out because they are so much fun!

I'm in Oregon and last day of school for K-12 this year is June 11th; first day back will be September 1st. We have a looooong summer break!

OT but were just in Bend visiting our DD! Beautiful state.

Here in our part of NY our school year ends around June 25th

Please double check that as I spoke to them at length, not the DCL reservation line but the UK social media team, on Friday night and it quite specifically says that you do not need a passport but you do need a government issued photo ID.

I did post screenshots of everything I went through with them a few pages ago.
I called and checked again, and a second sales associate confirmed. It's the address, so as I said a mortgage or tenancy agreement suffices.

On our Mediterranean cruise in 2019, my son was 20. The official drinking age onboard was 21, but because he was over 18, I was able to sign a waiver that allowed him to have alcohol as long as he was with a parent.

Good to know thanks! I've only done TA's and never noticed this offered

Quite a bit more further info has come out this evening if it answers any questions some of you might have? 👍

As this isn't official Disney website info I wouldn't count on it. Multiple sources have had different info depending on who they talk to regarding passports. The two other cruiselines I'm doing Staycations on are requiring passports so personally I can't see why Disney would choose not to.

Typo. we were discussing ocean view cabins on Deck 2 and that 1 slipped in front of my 2. sadly, I don’t bother checking my work before submitting it. I find a lot of weird things when I go back later. Like the lowercase s at the beginning of this sentence.

Now I will be in trouble for letting ordinary people know about Deck 12!

Ha! Love it! I hadn't even considered a typo but so wish there was a platform 9 3/4 type floor would be so fun

Are these staycation cruises going ahead? They trimmed down the schedule. Pushed back the booking date. I think there going to announce all adult guests will have to be vaccinated. The lateral flow tests, are not that accurate. Plus, most of the crew aren’t on the ship. There back home in Asia and Eastern Europe. It would be a PR disaster, if they had an outbreak on board. Especially, if there wanting to promote there product in the UK.

Multiple cruiselines are booking staycations for this summer in the UK. All of them have the same issues with staffing and yet are certain they will be able to control that. The PR side is the main reason why the majority have asked for vaccines to be able to cruise. The fact DCL are still not committing to whether they require them or not I feel is something that makes me cautious. Without requiring vaccines they will cater more for their demographic but they are then going against the majority of major cruise lines that have stated vaccines required. I'm hoping that before booking open they clarify this as they are extremely vague.

I wonder will there be a Pirate night?

I doubt it. 1 - fireworks at sea aren't allowed close to the coastline and its likely that she will be hugging the coast and 2 - they will be wanted to avoid mass congregations as much as possible.

Does anyone know yet what time you are due to get off the ship for these cruises ? Many thanks.

I would guess early as they will need to deep clean before the next cruise starts.

Motorbike license would work as its still a driving license

Thank you :)

You should be able to use you pay slip and your passport.

I don't think you are taking about the same "need".

Your screenshot seems to be a generic "need government issued ID to board the ship" (which doesn't needs to be issued by the UK government) whereas the PP is specifically talking about ID needed to prove that you are eligible for these "UK only" sailings.

Hi Everyone!

My Facebook feed is full of travel agents offering these cruises. As a first time cruiser - are there any that can offer booking before the 30th? Are there any advantages to getting an agent or will I just be paying them a commission to do what I can myself sat at a computer ready to book online at 9am on the 30th? Is there any way of booking before the 30th if I've never cruised with Disney before?

I am thinking that, should availability be limited, I would have more chance of getting something if I was just concentrating on one booking for myself as opposed to an agent where I may be 100th on a list of bookings they need to make on general sale day.

Thanks in advance!

Good point raised. I believe that TA's have different computer systems to book through, but I'm fairly sure they cant book ahead of Castaway status date. If you are talking about UK travel agents, just how familiar would they be in booking?

I'm not 100% convinced that there will be 'unprecedented' demand. The allure of a Disney cruise is high, although I think price will put some off. Add into that the COVID where many young people will have lost jobs/job security. Just my perception.

Proof of address and proof of residency and proof of ID is THREE different things!

Proof of ID will be your government issued ID (ANY government ie the country you were born in).

Proof of residency when you proof you reside in the UK, this is the place where you live (to get the settled status in 2 years time in your case the easiest way is to provide your NI number, that will be proof enough .... countless people did it already).

Proof of address shows the actual physical place where you live.

When you will do your booking online you (or anyone else) actually think they will require to scan a mortgage agreement and download it before the site will let you book? NO WAY

If someone is eligible to book on the phone a day earlier (ie platinum, silver) that`s mean Disney already KNOWS them they have their address on FILE!!!

I just can`t see that a Platinum person who already sailed 10+ time with Disney hence they MUST have Disney account has to proof their address again during booking.

The only time I can see this happening If you used to live outside of the UK and just recently changed you residency and the change hasn`t been made yet in your Disney account. AGAIN! At time of booking they only have access to the address which registered in your Disney account.

I also very much doubt that during check in they will require people to turn up with their mortgage/ tenancy agreement !

In the UK a bank statement, utility bill in your name is usually enough proof of address.

I`m positive that during booking they won`t ask legal documents to be uploaded.
And once you booked and paid in all I just don`t see they asking mortgage agreement to be show in the port. Ridiculous!

I have a feeling some people just making up problems here which seems scare people off. Please people think and stop to scare others!

Thanks everyone for the nice replies and help! Really appreciate it.
Obviously, for my boyfriend it's no issue, he's born here.

Is it the 0800 number that's on the website you can call for info? I might do that then, and explain what I do have as proof that I'm living in the UK.

I agree, prices will be high. Disney aren’t going to sell these on the cheap. You need at least a 700 crew to manage the ship. Even with reduced capacity. I’m paying £450 (verandah) a night for Hawaiian cruise next year. It will interesting to see the price comparison, against the staycations
