DCL carry-on alcohol policy changing Sept. 30 2015

...we talked about all the changes. it was hard because none of them really effect me in any way. i did say that while they don't affect me, do i wait till they take something that does before i leave or do i leave now. he said he didn't have an answer for that. he asked what i felt could improve dcl. i said that they were taking so much away, just give something back, something small just to show they are listening.

Bolding because I really liked the way you phrased that!

It's somewhat heartening to know that some people are getting calls from a real live person. I sent my email to the DCL Guest email addressy thing on Saturday and so far have gotten back diddly :sad2:. I hope it's because they're swamped with trying to deal with the emails they have been getting...

How did you find his email address? All I can find is the snail mail address. Can you PM me the email address, if that is allowed by disboards?

tinkerone has provided the email for Karl. For anyone else, if you know there first and last name just seperate them with a . and add @disney.com.
Sorry for the confusion, we were referring about someone else here on the board.

he actually gave a pretty good answer in that it was never advertised, just done as a curtsey and was never meant to be part of the cruise offerings. it just grew but has been getting out of hand. if you take 1000 rooms and figure how many autographs are needed it was getting logistically unmanageable.

Did he actually think that almost every stateroom was participating in that, though? That's just not likely.

And isn't it more logistically manageable to have people behind the scenes signing things, than have one Cinderella (for instance) at a time signing something, then you join Aurora's line and they sign it, etc etc etc? I mean...isn't having one person with the ability to magically turn herself into a few different characters, and sign without the need to sweat in a costume or wear out a wig or use expensive makeup, BETTER, logistically?

Or they could have just put a limit on it. Or charged a dollar per piece. Limits, not a total banning, would have worked just fine.

(LOL...I'm defending the whole "mickey mail" thing like I care about it...I don't! I don't like characters, I have no need for "autographs"...but it bugs me that they took it away because they couldn't come up with management limits)

I guarantee they have people who read these boards. I work in a very small, but publicly traded company, and even we have people that read social media and discussion boards. It's like a free pass to what your target audience is thinking. As a marketing executive, I can tell you that is golden. Disney isn't going to pass up that kind of information. What's more, they likely have tools where they have ongoing keyword searches in social forums such as this so that they can quickly find what's trending. If my small company does it, Disney does it.
This is true. Even MUCH smaller companies than Disney (or DCL) have people who monitor their social presence online. My brother used to do this for a variety of regional companies. Whether they have "ringers" that try to guide conversations I can't say.

Not only does DCL and Disney in general monitor all forms of social media, they would be insane not to. That is where the milinneal money comes from. If you aren't on top of your social media presence you are not doing your job as a modern company. I'll go even one step further, whoever is in charge of Disney's social media response should be fired for gross incompetence for their silence regarding this policy on their Facebook page.

I'd love to hear how the "industry standard" comment was taken out of context. They really didn't think that through at all. All that did was make me royally angry.

Still livid there wasn't enough notice to PIF guests, but I guess Disney has our $$ and doesnt care that we'll be stepping on the ship with a huge amount of ill will. This cruise better be better than perfect. They're already behind the 8-ball when it comes to my post cruise survey, and the cruise hasn't even started.

Just to add, date wise I wonder if the 30th September has anything to do with being the day that the Magic gets back from Europe? I was thinking it might be due to port security and it being different in Europe to the US so therefore harder to enforce maybe? Not sure though as have no clue either way just seemed like a weird coincidence

I wouldn't think that has anything to do with the date. There are lots of other cruise lines that have similar limitations for bringing alcohol onboard who cruise out of Europe. I wouldn't think it would be any harder to enforce the policy there.

I'm in agreement that it has more to do with the end/start date of the new fiscal quarter. Although, DCL could have made it Dec 1 so that there were no PIF people inconvenienced.

It's due to when the cruise documents have been sent out so now the cruise documents include it In the T &Cs, they are sent out 45 days in advance. Nothing to do with any financial quarters whatsoever.

i have a theory you say things like this so the rest of us will bang our heads against the wall. you really must stop talking like you know for sure. better yet, stop talking. my head hurts. lol.

Can anyone tell more about the fish extender exchange. About how many gifts do I need to bring. Do we give out gifts everyday of the cruise or just one day?Pleasse help !!

That is the reason, but others just want to make up answers.
how do we know YOUR not the one making up answers? you seem to talk like your in the know so how is that? are you a secret shopper for dcl? is that your job?
how do you always come by the 'correct' information and we always just surmise? i'm honestly curious, tell us.
