DCL carry-on alcohol policy changing Sept. 30 2015

YOU HAVE NEVER CRUISED DISNEY AND YOU OPEN YOU MOUTH?????

You got to be kidding me!!!!

My family are platinum, my wife barely drinks, but I do like beer, especially on vacation. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS, Disney used to allow cases now down to a 6 pack!!!!

your picture made me read this in the voice of anger while imagining you stomping over to the control board and pushing disgust out of the way!

BTW just to post the slightly different response I just received (word for word copied in):

We regret the disappointment expressed in your email. It is not our intent to upset our loyal Disney Cruise Line Guests.

Please allow me to explain. We regularly evaluate our policies and procedures and it is true that we have recently changed our alcohol beverage policy to limit the amount and types of alcohol Guests may bring onboard in our home- and out-ports.

For the sake of clarity, as you probably know, effective for cruises embarking on or after September 30, 2015, Guests 21 years and older may bring aboard a maximum of 2 bottles of unopened wine or champagne (no larger than 750 ml) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) in their carry-on luggage at the beginning of the cruise and at each port-of-call. This type of alcohol beverage policy is not unusual in the cruise industry.

Additional information on our policies can be found on our website at:
https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/planning-center/my-cruise-plans/faqs/preparing-for-your-cruise/alcohol-onboard-policy/

Though it may take time for the input we receive to be fully assessed and acted upon as a whole, please believe that we are seriously committed to, and diligently working toward, providing our Guests the kind of magical vacation they have come to expect from Disney. We will continue to strive to provide our Guests with the finest vacation and entertainment experiences, and we are very grateful for your valuable input to help us achieve that goal.

We hope these concerns will not affect your regard for Disney, as there is magic in the Disney name.

Very Close to mine :), Sorry the SAME!!!!

I'm guessing that at least half of the people on this thread didn't say or do squat when any of the other things started increasing/get cut back/happened. So why now, why this issue should everyone band together?

For me, I'm voting with my dollars. I love cruising on multiple lines. I am taking my brother, sis in law, niece and 2 nephews on a cruise next summer. Disney was a consideration, now its not. We're not big drinkers, its that there too many other things that have pushed me to wonder about the value of my cruise dollar. But I didn't see any consensus on any other issue, and I don't expect to see it on this one.

Can't speak for others but this is NOT my first time complaining to DCL about their changes. :) Heck I even complained (and probably the only person on earth that did) when they said they were redoing Animators Palate on the Magic to be like the Dream. I personally was looking forward to going on the Magic as there are some things I miss about the Wonder that was the same as the Magic. Anywho...like you I too will be voting with my dollars so I don't disagree with you there but do think out of all the changes this one impacted peoples wallets more than the other changes. Having a $400 bar tab vs spending $100 at home is a big difference...well to me anyways. :)

Laugh for the day...how I closed out my reply to their canned response email.

"Cause yes the Magic is in the name but it doesn't put money in my pocket to pay for what said Magic is costing these days.
No response needed as I'm sure it won't be an actual response from a human being."

Why in the world would I do such a foolish thing? What would that accomplish? The person who asserts that he or she "doesn't care" in the middle of a group of people who DO care is looking for something. Conflict, likely. Attention? Stress relief? People who are looking for fun, positive interaction seek out like minded people. They don't challenge people to "tell them why they should care." That is just asking for some sort of altercation. Why put yourself through that? Why not take a nap? Buy yourself something nice? Relax?

I am relaxed, haha it's all good different strokes for different folks we will both drop this I'm not looking for attention or stress relief, feel free to PM me and we will talk more. To end my time in this thread I will say I hope all you who write disney get what you want. This doesn't bother me so I'll enjoy cruising DCL and going to Food and Wine in WDW

I think I've lost the ability to appreciate sarcasm with regard to this issue. In various social media venues I've been virtually accused of being an alcoholic and of not caring about my kids or their vacation. My personal favorite post (on DCL's FB page), which thankfully was deleted by a moderator, stated that those who couldn't afford to pay for drinks on the ship were too poor to go on a Disney cruise. The "other side" (if there can be said to be an other side) has gotten a bit mean, and it's making me testy.

you and me both. I see both sides of this deff getting mean and testy, like someone else said they couldn't get words, I'm not always great typing out what I think. So we are all good

I might have missed if anyone did this but did anyone reply to the response asking that if their intent is to come in line with the policies of other cruise lines do they also intent to adjust their pricing to come in line as well?

Not yet, but I did email my wife this morning and reply with something along those lines, hoping to generate something other than the auto reply.

I'm a newbie and am going on my first Disney cruise in Feb. When you bring the wine on board, can you bring a wine opener and drink it in your room or can you only drink it at the restaurants and pay the corking fee??

Yep, I am frustrated that people don't care about the change in policy - not about the alcohol portion specifically, but it's one more thing Disney has taken away. It's the general apathy from Disney's fans about similar changes and reductions in service that allows Disney to continue to do this. I'm not sorry for thinking Disney fans should care about that.

I do care about this issue and have responded to DCL about it. On the other hand if other issues don't impact we I will not get as outraged. I could overall and we do note a lot of things on our comment cards and post cruise email, but to me it is disingenuous to complain to DCL about something that has 0 impact on me. Trust me there is enough to complain about without me backing issues that others are dealing with.

A six pack or two bottles of wine per port is plenty. Honestly, if the entire cruise is made or broken on getting ****-faced for less, then people need to rethink their priorities.

Considering that it is safe for a person of my size to have a bottle of beer an hour and still be within the legal limit to drive, that is only six hours worth of beer. Saying that there is no way a six pack of beer could get me visibly drunk in one setting when drunk at a reasonable pace.

My priorities are spot on, maybe you should check DCL's priorities, when I left the tequila and margarita tasting I had one heck of a buzz going, more so than I ever had from the stuff I brought on:)

Many like to have a few drinks throughout the day to relax and enjoy the fact we are not at our stressful jobs. Just because you apparently don't enjoy the same is no reason to pass judgment on others.
