Do we know if the NYC cruises sold well? If they did, I expect they will be back.
I don't expect they will be going back to Texas anytime soon.
Mike
The NYC cruise did sell very well, the Caribbean seemingly mostly full, Canada not quite, but the Canadian itinerary wasn't particularly compelling, either. Other lines have a few interesting twists for those who "head North". I've done a couple, but even
DCL wouldn't get me back unless the $$ were pretty low.
Bermuda, on the other hand, sign me up. And again, other lines do some interesting longer sails, 8-10 days, with a stop at Bermuda, hit a Caribbean island or two, and come back.
My itinerary? 9 nights
Day 1 NYC
Day 2 At Sea
Day 3 Bermuda, stay overnight
Day 4 Bermuda, depart 3 PM
Day 5 At Sea
Day 6 Key West
Day 7
Castaway Cay
Day 8 At Sea
Day 9 At Sea
Day 10 NYC
I'd sail that again and again, from April to October, 2015. Second week of October, NYC to San Juan PR reposition (empty, I guess, due to US laws), winter sailings from San Juan, then a reposition in April 2016 to Europe. Summer sailings in Med and Baltics, then a Transatlantic back to San Juan in October 2016, and back up to NYC in April 2017.
To even out a schedule, 5 nights
Day 1 NYC
Day 2 Boston, or Provincetown or Providence RI
Day 3 Halifax
Day 4 St. John
Day 5 At Sea
Day 6 NYC
Alternatively, given the popularity of the Two Nights to Nowhere in NYC -
Day 1 NYC
Day 2 At Sea
Day 3 NYC
followed by a Three Night -
Day 1 NYC
Day 2 At Sea
Day 3 At Sea
Day 4 NYC
I'd bet a lot of folks would B2B those, for a 5 night relaxation - Based on how the Two-nighters sold, with a lot of parents opting to leave the kids home for some "us" time, and the relative ease of doing so rather than arranging child care for a week, I'd bet that DCL could even monitor the bookings and give kid's clubs CM's some NYC "time off". Win for DCL, win for CM's.
So, there you go, DCL - I've given you a 4 year plan for the MAGIC - and you won't saturate anything, you'll have people waiting for the ship every other year, and you can milk the Caribbean wintertime market. Throw in some sweet airfare deals from the East Coast to PR (which is usually pretty reasonable anyway), do the lesser-visited islands away from the DREAM and FANTASY, and you won't pull guests from the larger ships.
I'll work on the WONDER another day, but you can just send me a nice OBC for my New Year's Eve cruise
