Hello, question about using the app on the ship. Seems so basic but it’s basically my family’s first time. If you don’t have a DCL account, are you able to use the app and see the ship’s activities?

You didn't used to need one but now I'm actually curious about this too. Not everyone in my family has a DCL account nor do I want to really get them one (my 11 year doesn't need one).

We were just on in January and it wasn't an issue. When you're onboard the ship and on the DCL_Guest wifi, the app behaves completely differently than it will on shore. You will "log in" with your stateroom number and be issued an ID that you can share to instant message with others (family, friends, etc). You can automatically see everyone in your immediate stateroom, but would have to add the ID # of anyone else manually.

It doesn't ask for your online ID like it does now when off-ship.

That was the behavior prior to the most recent update, which came out in early May. Prior to this update, in either "on-board" or "off-board" use it did not require any logon, and as long as you did not care about onboard chat feature. Now the "off-board" mode of the application requires Disney account logon - and it is still a question for on-board use.

You will be able to see all the activities for the entire week and mark what you would like to do. The app will send you a reminder 15 minutes before the activity begins. You can also see the menu for each restaurant. The chat feature wasn't great. We sailed in March so if there was a new update, it may be better or different from our experience.
