::MickeyMo Does anyone have info about the repositioning cruise May 2004 ? I'm wondering if we will be able to use points for one and pay for the other ?:confused3

I asked DU same question and they didn't reply to the question. Just said they will contact me again after annoucement. Even one person on points could help with the high pricetag of a 14 day cruise. It might average out a but less per day, but more than a week one that is for sure. Most cruiselines give better pricing on repositioning cruises and I would expect DCL to do the same. Wonder when and if MS will get inventory!!

My gut feeling is that DCL will try to sell them out for cash. If sales go well then they will not offer it to DVC for points. If sales are slower than expected, then they will do a deal with DVC.

I think this was what they did for the 10day Christmas Cruise. It did seem to take a long time before it was offered out to points.

Hi Robin!! Any plans for you and your family? How long did it take for Christmas cruise to open for points? If you did book for cash could you then change your ressie and move one or more of the people into a point reservation? Hoping to have the chance to do this long cruise with Brandon and Justin while they are still under 12 years old. Time flies!!

::MickeyMo Robin, do you think this will sell out, and if so do you think it's risky to wait and see if they'll offer it on points ? I really want to go but it would help if we could use points for one of us !::MinnieMo Virginia

We had hoped to do the cruises, but I don't think I can pull Matt out of school that long. :( We are hoping to do DL though next year to enjoy the 50th Anniversary Festivities. We may take one of the 7 day "unofficial" Mexican cruises. I do hope our boys can meet up again. Matt has a blast with Brandon and Justin in the kids club.

Do I think they will sell out - I think the 14 day length will be intimidating on most peoples vacation leave from work. Plus the price my also be rather hefty. I see corporate DCL trying to make as much from these cruises as they would for 2 7-day vacations. I am sure they will market them as Panama Canal cruises instead of repositioning cruises.

It seems that it was about 4 or 5 months before the Christmas Cruise was released on points - but I wasn't counting. Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Robin, If memory serves me right points came out at the 11 month window which would have been January of '04. The cruise started to be sold in June of '03. I would think the 14 days would be available at the same time frame - the 11 month window.

I would expect the points for the 14 to be very, very high. For a cat 7 on the 10 day the points are 502.

the points may not be as high as people think. keep in mind with a repositioning cruise passengers are going to need to find air transportation to go to florida and return from california....this is not valid routing on airlines....ie., legal open jaw...where the number of unflown miles between california and florida will be in excess of either flown segment.....so many people will have $$$ plane tickets.

and if you live in either state you'd be looking at one way tickets. again $$$$$

so maybe disney will lower the prices/points to attract more people to offset the high cost of travel.
