Hi!

We are driving to DL this weekend! :cool1: We haven't visited since March 2008, and my girls are wondering what has changed in DCA. We found the closed-for-refurbishment list, but what has closed permanently or changed significantly?

Thanks for your help!

3 days until we drive!

Well, it's covered in construction walls right now in the Paradise Pier area, so that's important to know. :)

Orange Stinger has been taken down to the ground, and will eventually become something else (same basic ride without the orange ride...Silly Symphony Swings).

The SunWheel now has Mickey's huge face on it and some beautiful lights...Mickey's FunWheel is what it's called.

The dinosaur sunglass hut and a ton of stuff along there, including the bulk of the building that was Golden Dreams is gone and behind construction walls, as they turn it into the new Little Mermaid ride.

Is Toy Story Midway Mania new since March '08? Can't remember how long it's been open...

The midway games have been rethemed a bit too, they finally have some Disney related prizes! :) the stuffed dumbo prize is super cute.
The silver Mickey ears on California screamin are gone too, it's a painted sun now.

Where on earth was the stuffed dumbo???? We saw countless people with it, but it was NOT displayed at ANY of the midway games. We were so so sad!

Toy Story Midway Mania opened in June 2008, so yes, it's new. The Blue Sky Cellar preview center for the DCA Expansion is also new, I think. The Sun Wheel has been re-themed as Mickey's Fun Wheel. The ride is the same, but be sure to take a look at it after dark - at night the wheel does a continuous light show with all different colors of lights and different patterns. It's really cool.

The Golden Dreams show is no more.

Lucky Fortune Cookery opened in the Pacific Wharf area, and Cocina Cucamonga has switched to the restaurant space that was occupied by the original Lucky Fortune Cookery when the park first opened in 2001. (It closed and was empty for several years.) The Vineyard Room restaurant is closed, as are Burger Invasion and Corn Dog Castle, though the latter is supposed to return eventually.

It's @ Dumbo's Bucket Brigade game. I've noticed that sometimes they run out bc when I looked at the prizes once, they didn't have any Dumbos. Although I did see that they had Timothy as a smaller prize & that's the next thing I want to get.

Then for the other Midway Games, Casey at the Bat has stuffed Casey's & a Mudville weiner dog, Bullseye Stallion Stampede has Bullseyes, and the Goofy Goes Fishing has Mickey & Goofy in fishing gear. Of course the Disney themed stuffies are only for the bigger prizes.

Another thing that has also changed is the duration of the parade. Since the majority of the route is narrowed bc of construction, the parade ends by the Mission Tortilla Factory.
