DCA entrance with stroller?

So our last trip in 2008, we had my double jogger stroller. I remember that at DCA, the turnstile was too narrow and the security guard had to open the side gate to let us in/out. Even the ADA entrance was too narrow.
Curious if anyone else has experienced this or if maybe they have made adjustments.
My stroller is not huge and it fits fine through the DL side :confused3
Just wondering? :)

That's what we had to do too with our double jogger. Apparently ADA compliant is narrower than double jogger compliant...we had the same problem at HOJOs in an ADA room.

FWIW, if you are staying onsite or using the GCH facilities (with receipt of course:thumbsup2), the GCH entrance to DCA is wide enough....

Does your stroller fit through a regular sized doorway? We have a double stroller that we have used at DL/DCA since our first visit with kids in 2007, and we have never had a problem on either side. It's a little tight (you have to make sure the wheels are straight) but it fits. I'd guess the opening is about the same width as a standard doorway.

How odd . . . but is there a shorter line for you to get in the larger entrance? :)

Now that you mention it, I remember that we didn't fit through our room at the HoJo either :rotfl: We are staying there again, but thanks for the heads up on GCH!

I have not run into any other places that the stroller has not fit besides DCA and what 3Minnies1Mickey had mentioned about the HoJo rooms, even on the DL side.
I know it fits "stnadard" door sizes, like our library (we have a small one :) ), doctor's, and we just took it to the Elem. school and had no problem fitting through the classroom doors. :confused3
But, no there is not a shorter line. :lmao: too bad or I would always bring it along. *C'mon kids, put down your ipods/cell phones and hop in the stroller*

Nope. You still have to wait in line. After they scan your ticket you wait by the large gates on either side of the turnstyles for someone to unlock it for you. So you actually have to wait longer.

That's too bad. I was thinking of the time I forgot my Driver's License on a trip so I had to go through s special TSA screening at the airport, for which there was no line. When I was finished I just lounged around waiting for the rest of my family (the fools that had come prepared with IDs in hand). :)

That's so weird. You'd think Disney of all places (Stroller Central!) would have gates big enough to fit a regular double stroller. Too bad about the extra waiting, though - I'd think teenagers would love to get around the rules by sitting in a stroller. ;)

Can you walk the kids in and fold up the stroller just to walk through the entrance? Or would that be more trouble than just going over to the extra wide gate?

We have the same problem with our double jogger at DCA. We have folded it up and just gone through the gate and also waited for someone to come open the floodgate with a key. Sometimes the key person is fast, sometimes not.

Our kids are big enough now that we didn't even use the stroller last time we were there (April). It was nice to just walk through the turnstiles. ;)
