DCA: Animation Studio

I finally got to go in when I went with LavenderPeach. We tried the Ursela voice thing, but ours didn't seem to work. It didn't record our voices. And my sister even found a hidden mickey in the Beast's library. :thumbsup2

I love the Animation Studio. Last trip my son was beyond tired and cranky (yes, an 8 year old!)and wanted to go back to the hotel to sleep. Nobody else wanted to go and I know he just needed 20 minutes so I took him to the AS we grabbed a padded bench and he cuddled up on my lap with his jacket covering him and he slept for a good 35 minutes. That was all he needed. We were good to go. :cool1:

We spent so much time in there as a family too. The kids loved Beast's library. We all did the computer thing where you answer questions and find out which character you are most like. Then we did the voiceovers in Ursulas cave. We took video of our son doing his and it is hilarious!

We always spend time watching that toy story thing and we do Turtle Talk with Crush everytime as well. We come out of the Studio refreshed and ready to ride rides again.

We love Animation Academy.:goodvibes Only recently we found out that once a day (everyday?) one of the artist gets to pick a special character to do. One day we had just missed out on Jack Skellington (didn't know they did him) so the next time we were there we checked when the special one of the day would be and it was the next show, and it was Jack! DD9 literally came dancing out of the building to tell me. We were first in line and waited for about 20 min. I noticed when we were siting there that quite a few people started to come in and when they saw the closed door and people sitting on the floor, they left. I don't think they knew what was there.

BTW-Jack was easy to draw and DD9 thinks it's here best one yet. I think we've done the Academy about 8-10 times now since May I've told several AP holders about it-they didn't know a think about it.

Check it out-it's great!

We just loved the Animation Academy. Even our 4 year old. He started getting frustrated b/c the CM was going too fast for him, and he popped his hand up (as we were told to do if we needed help), asked for help, and the helper CM came over to encourage him, give him a little pointer, and encourage him some more. Almost made me cry, how wonderful the helper CM was.

And at the end when we went to thank that CM, he offered DS the picture he had worked on during the class (when not helping people). Hubby loved the class so much (we did too, but Crush was calling DS) he went in a second time, so we have our pictures and the CM's picture up on our wall. :)

I can see us going there MANY times on trips in the future....

For us, it is a trip highlight! Not to be missed! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!! We don't know anyone else who has been there...and, living in Arizona, we know LOTS of people who've been to DL!! :)

You will never regret going to the Animation Academy!pixiedust:

our family loves it too...but especially ursulas grotto, we love to do all the songs etc.

I think this illustrates a point against the DCA bashers.......they always gripe that they got DCA instead of a Westcot, but Epcot is a lot like DCA in that you have to put in the time to appreciate the park, it is much larger than a collection of obvious e-ticket rides.

My kid and DH love the anamation studio... They go in and take a drawing session and then they line up for another immediately after. They often do two or three. This gives me some mommy time to people watch and relax outside...

We ended up loving our time in the Animation studio. We drew Dopey, I think, from the seven dwarves, and the nice A/Ced room was a welcome treat from the 100 degree weather.

Our trip is not complete until we visit Animation Studios! My daughter has loved this space since the day it opened!

The Animation Studios is my main must-do and my favorite part of DCA, although Buena Vista Street is coming up close behind!
There is something for everyone there. My parents always suggest Turtle Talk and he never leaves us disappointed. My sister and I could watch the loop of Disney clips in the lobby for hours! My boyfriend is amazed by the Toy Story zoetrope.
