When should I expect these to come out, and do they go fast? My problem is that we won't know officially if my husband will have the particular week we want to go off until late Feb./early Mar. next year. Should I go ahead and book anyway when they come out?

I have the same dilemma, we are going in Jan. 2003 and I have been putting off booking hoping they will come out around June, which would give me 6 mths. in advance.

Sorry, DC rates don't come out till fall. I remember they came out on September 28 this past year - because I was in WDW when they were announced and was shockced to come home to see they were out.

Disney will release the seasons (value, etc) probably in June, that's when they did last year.

Figure that if you are booking, that room rates will go up about 5%-10% (but maybe not with the economy) and you will get 20% off value resorts, 15% off mods and 10% off deluxes and you will have a ball park figure to work with.

In terms of booking, I always book as soon as I know when I am going and apply discounts to the ressie when they come out. Then I know I have the room I want. But January is also a slower time of year. February though can be busier, especially President's week and after.

We plan to arrive January 10th (evening).
I would book my ressies now, except DH wants to stay in the much talked about PC.
I want to split our eight night stay between PC and another resort.
I am just holding off to see if anything on PC comes out soon.
And then, when AP rates are available (probably near the end of this year) I will see about getting an AP discount rate.
Kinda of a pain (for Disney and me) because first I call and get the ressie. Then I call when DC discounts are out and get that. Then I call again when AP discount rates are out.
I plan on going through DU for the January trip for room ressies.

People do this all the time. CM's are use to making ressies then canceling then applying discounts. Don't miss out on the resort and time of year you want. The discount will come then call and have the CM modify your ressie. LOL

Keep checking mousesavers.com Mary and her readers are up to date on all discounts and promotions.:)

Is there much difference between DC rates and AP rates?

Can someone please explain DC Rates to me and why they sell out. We booked our last Dis vacation through DU and want to go back in June of 2003. We spent around $8,000.00 last year between WDW and the Dis cruise and would like to keep the cost low next year. (Hubby doesn't want to go back so soon, but if I can go for under $4,000.00 that can change his mind.

Thanks!

Dahness DC rates are Disney Club rates and they only have so many rooms for that rate.

My dillemma isn't that we are going in Feb., we are actually planning on going in Dec. 2003, but my husband has to bid for his vacation and that will be next Feb. and he won't know until the end of that month or the beginning of Mar. if he got the week in Dec.
If I book for that week when the DC rates come out , and I have to change it, will the DC rate be applied to the new ressie/

My understanding is that the DC rate can be applied, if it is available.
There is never a guarantee you can get a DC or AP rate.
If you are a AAA member, I have read and been told that DC and AA are the same discount, or VERY close.
When I booked this upcoming May trip, no AP discounts were available for ASMo. (I booked late January/early February.)
However, I got a good rate at a mod with a discount code that anyone could get at that time. It was only $10 a night more than the ASMo, standard room. So I went for POR. :)
If I had really wanted an AP rate at ASMo, I would have just kept calling back hoping to get a ressie that someone else cancelled.

So do you get any discount if you make reservations 1 year or more in advance?

I have seen that there are a lot of discounts out now, thanks to Mousesavers.com. Are those discounts normal or is it just a slow year? I think the mod rate is around $100.00 a night right now.

I guess I am tring to find out if it is better to book early or wait 3, 4, or 5 months out.

I would hate to pay $170-200 for a moderate room when I could get it for $100.00. I guess I am a cheapo person, I would much rather spend more money on souvs and food then a hotel but want to stay on Dis property. There is 5 in my family that is why we would like to stay in a mod rather than 2 value rooms.

Thanks for all the help!
