hey all, is it less expensive to get the Disney Club Card and purchase the on site hotel seperately from the entry tickets, or is it better to just get the package with the Basic Plan, (a hopper pass) and hotel...Thanks

If you call DC to book your trip, you will automatically get a basic package. I don't think you can use DC for just resort booking.

Again, I might be wrong. Double check with cast members at DC.

You really need to pick the package apart to tell just exactly what you are paying for your lodging and your tickets, etc. Every once in awhile, you can come across a good package deal. As for my personal experience, I have always found that purchasing my components of the trip separately works out to be the cheapest way to go. DH and I purchase AP's now, so we get at least two trips out of our passes. Also, we have been fortunate to change our ressies to AP rates the past two years. We also are DC members as well as AAA, so that helps us out, too. Hope this helps answer your question!

You are able to use Disney Club to just book a resort without a package -- I have done it several times including our next trip in October.

I am a home based travel agent, and honestly, it is usually more economical to purchase hotel and tickets seperately. The reason being, if you book a package, Disney charges per person for your hotel room. Booked seperately, you pay for the room per night. When I have done this for clients, it has usually saved them from $800-$1000. Also, you can still purchase your tickets upon arrival to have them combined on your room key. Try to break down the package figuring the amount of the current hotel rate for the length of your stay, then add your pass prices. Subtract that from the package total and I guarentee that there will be a savings.

I don't think so, but it couldn't hurt to ask before you purchase them, since this is the only way you can save a little money on passes now. You can also still book your room with the Disney Club rate and add any type of pass that you want to it. I'd be interested to know if it is possible to add your ticket to your room key, so plaese let me know what you find out.

Just an FYI - the Basic Plan is a room only ressie through DC. It does not include park hopper passes. They just call it the Basic plan because all DC room ressies are considered packages (and thus have different cancellation/payment schedules than regular room only ressies through CRO). You will save $$ with the DC discount (up to 20% depending on the season and your hotel choice). We have our ressies for Jan and June booked through Dreams Unlimited with the DC discount. Our agent Tammy has been wonderful and she's on the lookout for better codes and AP rates to reduce our cost!

My dh should know TODAY:) if his boss will approve a conference in June at WDW. If his boss says "Nah", we will use DU. We used Michelle for our Nov. 2001 WDW/Cruise & totally loved DU.
