DC Metro Area Restaurant Suggestions

Ya gotta come into the city and go to either Mortons, Ruth Chris or The Prime Rib.

We're getting a Morton's in Annapolis :) Can't wait to try it out.

I'm gonna Hijack for a moment.....

Have any of you eaten at Acadiana in DC, its off K street, in Mt. Vernon Square?? I'm from Louisiana and have been wanting to eat there and we're finally going on the 15th :) Just wanted to see if anyone has tried it...

I have, just a few weeks ago, as a matter of fact. It was yum! I had the fried green tomatoes (to DIE for!) and the creole for my entree. DH had the beef tenderloin with bleu cheese on top - I had a bite and it was soooo good. The creole was good too, but I wish I had ordered the steak after I had a taste of his.

Two other restaurants I enjoy for Southern Cuisine are Vidalia and Georgia Browns.

Wow...haven't thought about La Paz in years and years. I used to go up there with a friend of mine who happened to be Mexican. He knew good Mexican food and that was the place he went to get it. Did they open a new restaurant in addition to the one in Frederick, or to replace it?

They just moved to a new location, it's still in Frederick, just now along Carroll Creek downtown (not that it wasn't downtown before).

Ahh, o.k. I loved how quaint the restaurant was. I hate to think of them as fancy schmancy! I remember the wait to get in that place was long though, I guess they probably had to open up a bigger place.

How weird is that??? Cool huh :) Thanks for the info :) Vidalia is on my list, and I've heard of Georgia Browns, but it hasn't made my "list" yet ;) We'll actually be eating lunch at Acadiana, so hopefully they have most of the same stuff.....I have SO MANY places that I want to go....It'll take me YEARS to get to them all ;)

Hey, we are going to Legal SeaFoods on the harbor in Baltimore for New Years Eve....been there by any chance?? Anyone??

I know crap about steaks. But there is a Shula's down here in Tysons Corner.

Legal Seafoods is decent for fresh seafood. Its a chain type restaurant so its not as "special" as a Vidalia or Acadiana, but its a decent restaurant. And its in a great location, right at Inner Harbor.

Don't know if Rosslyn is within the travel limits.....but.....Ray's the Steaks is really fantastic. It is a local place - not much ambiance - think artistic/funky/upscale diner? But really, you're just going for the MEAT! :thumbsup2

Yeah. I had to stay on the harbor b/c we will be at the Science Center for New Years, and I couldn't find any nice local joints, and I wanted to try something new. Compared to Phillips...is it the same, better or worse??

I totally agree with this. I've been to the Legal Seafood in the Harbor a couple of times. First time was great all around. Second time was great food, hideous service. I'm not one to complain about service if it's just mediocre, but it was so bad that we not only complained to the manager, but we called the corporate number to complain. They sent use a $100 gift card to try them again. We would have definitely gone again anyway, we just wanted them to take care of the problems.

Make reservations if you can, especially on a Fri, Sat or Sun for anything after the lunch hour.

Good to know :) I made reservations for 6 on New Years Eve....I'm hoping they put out their best behavior/service for the holiday rush, we'll see. The menu looks awesome though, I LOVE seafood, so I'm really looking forward to it...

Much better than Phillips. :thumbsup2

A really wonderful restaurant in Baltimore is Sabatinos in Little Italy. Not in Inner Harbor, but pretty close. I know you said you wanted some place in Inner Harbor, so this won't work for you this time, but its a hop skip and a jump away - keep it on your "list", you won't be disappointed. :goodvibes

I'll put it down. :thumbsup2 I have heard good things about Little Italy in general...

A good friend of mine...his brother-in-law's wife's family owns La Paz. They have a fancy schmancy new location along Carroll Creek now, nice place.

I had heard they had moved to a fancier place. I used to love their original location behind the parking garage. That is where DH took me on our first date. It was "our place" until we moved to NC in 1997.

If you like cream of crab soup, get it there! They bring the dish out with the LUMPS of crabmeat in the dish.....then the pour the "cream of" overtop of it right in front of you....oh, divine!

They had to move - the old place was very cute and quaint, but they were losing out on so much business because of the size of the place. They have so much more seating now.

Wow, thanks for all the replies. :thumbsup2 I have it narrowed down to Charlie Palmer in DC, Flemings in McLean, District Chophouse in DC, and Ruth's Chris in DC.

Has anyone ever been to District Chophouse? I found it online but I don't think anyone mentioned it. My indecisiveness makes planning dates bad. ;)

I've heard of it, but I've never eaten there. It's down by the Verizon Center, so my guess is that it's going to be a little touristy. You might want to check The Washington Post or Wasingtonian magazine to see if it's been reviewed.
