I know that many readers of this board have visited DC recently and I was wondering, does anyone have a recommendation of where to take a photo for a Christmas card?

Typically our holiday cards are of my son in front of our house or in front of the tree or in Santa's lap ... hoping to do something a little more exciting this year. We will be in DC for one day in October so I thought that might be good.

Sculpture garden perhaps?

He is almost 6.

Thanks for any suggestions!

It's been a few years but I can think of a few very picturesque spots. One is the Jefferson Memorial and it doesn't get nearly as much foot traffic as say the Lincoln Memorial or Washington Monument. http://www.nps.gov/thje/index.htm

There are also some very picturesque gardens in and around the Smithsonian.

What about the Gaylord National Hotel near DC. I believe it's in National Harbor, MD. I have been to the one in Nashville, TN and the one in Orlando they have many beautiful trees and Christmas displays you could have your picture made in front of. They also have ICE! and displays you could have pictures taken in front of. I will see if I can find some of my pics and post them here.

I don't think they will be decorated for Christmas in October. We went in early Dec last year and it was just decorated then.

We just went to disney in May and are using one of the pictures for our christmas card. If you go to the official white house store (which is of course right across the street from white house), they have an exact replica of the oval office. We took our picture there and will be using that.
