DD12 has moderate/severe ADHD. We have tried various meds(Concerta, Strattera, now Ritalin). She is on 50mgs a day. 20 in AM 10 at noon and 20 in late afternoon. I was reading the magazine ADDitude for the first time at work last night(seems like a good resource!) and saw something in there about Daytrana. It's time realease patch with the same stuff as Ritalin in it. Has anyone used it before? It seems like it would be great for DD since we always have to remind her to take her meds. I read a little about it on the net, but not much.

I have not taken Daytrana itself but I am on a brand spanking new MAOI (antidepressant) that is in a patch form.

I thought it would be a great way of getting my meds but it's turning out to still be annoying for a number of reasons:
1) check it out but I have to change my patch every 24 hours- they like you to time it pretty exactly too
2) you have to find a number of "good spots". Places where your clothes wont rub it or people wont see it depending on what you are wearing and places where your skin wont move too much
3) every night you have a small irritation that goes away where the patch was... and you have to put it on a different spot every day

So far it's ok, some parts are bad (i hate my boyfriend seeing it even though it's fairly clear) and some parts are good (i only have to worry about it when I change it). I went swimming in the ocean with it and it was fine.

Just my .02 on the patch as a delivery method. PM me if you need anything.

We just started my DS on it this morning. He is 8 yrs old and is on 20 mg. Previously he has been on Focalin and Adderall. The child across the street has been on it for 2 weeks. His Mom said it is a great improvement -- he doesn't have any highs or lows during the day.

We finally got DD started on it yesterday. Right now she is on only 20 mg while the doctor researches it some. She is the 1st person he has prescribed it for. We go back and see him in a month. Man, the backing is hard to get off!!!!
