During November, my family (husband, eleven- year-old son and eight-year-old daughter) will be spending five days at Disney World and then we'll drive to Daytona Beach and spend four days with my husband's parents. Can anyone tell me anything about Daytona Beach-where to stay, what to do, where to eat, etc. Any info would be appreciated.

Daytona Beach is wonderful. You will love it there.

There are many great hotels there, depending on what your looking for.

I always like to stay on the ocean, to me there is nothing like waking up in the morning and having your coffee on your balcony over looking the Atlantic!

There is Adam's Mark- High priced but worth it!

There are more moderate resorts: Treasure Island is nice, some rooms have full kitchens. The Beachcomber and the Acapulco are also very nice.

There are also many small motels/hotels on the ocean.

As far as things to do, my absolute favorite is the Beach, there is also an amusement park on the boardwalk. Daytona USA is there if you are a race fan, you can even drive a race car if you want if the Petty experience is in town when your there.

There are restaurants everywhere, from fast food, to lobster.

I used to live there years ago, and have spent at least 1 month a year there till recently.

Just let me know if you have any other questions. and enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the information, Jakesmom1. Your post makes me excited for the Daytona Beach portion of our trip. I've seen some pretty good deals on the internet for the Adam's Mark. I've just been looking so far, but now I'll get serious and see if I can find a really good rate.

I don't remember the exact website, but do a search for the Daytona Beach Chamber of Commerce. They had the best deals for hotels when I was looking earlier this year. For us, we thought it was just okay. We weren't really big into sitting on the beach okay, so we got a little bored.

My Grandparents lived in Daytona Beach for 30 years and we visited a few times a year. I have 2 favorite places to eat and the food is incredible at both.

Inlet Harbor Marina and Restaurant-
This place is beautiful! Tiki torches all over on the water and wonderful food! You can dine inside or out.

The other is called Martini's on Bay Cafe. Also beautiful and soothing atmosphere. We have 2 young boys and they were welcomed at both and offered kids menus.

Things To Do
The Beach!!! Love it! Boardwalk is neat also.

Angell & Phelps Chocolate Factory offers a free tour thats fun.
Congo River Golf & Exploration Co. for miniature golf .
Pirates Cove for mini golf...(this one is my favorite and has been there forever).

A list of November Events can be found
here

I would pick the same 2 hotels as JakesMom. Adams Mark is great but can be pricey. I really like Treasure Island and great deals can be found.

So much to do in this area and lots of fun!

I, too, am going to Daytona and am looking for info. Does anyone have an opinion on 'A Tiny Cruise Line' river excursion? It goes from South Beach Street, Daytona Beach.

Thanks for the great tips on Daytona Beach, everyone. I'm getting really excited to go there after a few days at Disney World. I didn't know what to expect, but you've made it sound great!
