Has anyone stayed in Daytona Beach, any advise on hotels? We have the Boardwalk Inn booked in 2 weeks.

I stay in Daytona Beach all the time and i've never heard of that. I'm not sure what quality of room you'd prefer i like higher in so that could be why this one does'nt stand out in my head. I have been staying at Ocean Walk resort for the last two years since they opened. They are next to the Ocean Walk Shoppees and two blocks to main street! Great for not having to drive you can walk to the pier and boardwalk to play games ride go karts and eat. If you'd like more info i'd be glad to offer you advise for things to do places to eat and see. Just give me some info on when you are visiting and whos traveling. :) Have a great trip.

I just booked by DBIL at a best western- tiki something orother for Bike Week......

Brandy HI. We'll be there for speedweeks 16-19th and March for bikeweek 9-12th! I can't wait.

DH and I always stay at the Desert Inn, right on the ocean. We've been going there for years. Before they remodeled (it was still nice, but you could see "wear and tear" here and there) we could get a room in January for about $40 a night. A couple years ago we got their 5-night package for $254. Last time we stayed there they had just completed their multi-million dollar remodeling and we paid $79 per night. We always get a room facing the ocean, love being able to open the balcony door and hear the ocean. The hotel is really, really nice now that they've remodeled. Huge outdoor pool/whirlpool area, also an indoor pool, exercise room with whirlpools, laundry, restaurant, free internet, etc. We love staying there!!

Thanks for your input, we are going down Feb 16-Feb 21 for speedweeks as well, its just me and my bf. I'm nervous now of some negative feedback I've seen on Tripadvisor. I also learned they don't have balconies which is a top priority for me. Any suggestions for a nice dinner restaurant?

I stayed in daytona for speedweeks a few year s ago and stayed in the place right across from the track i think it was next door to hooters if i remember right.I just cant remember the name of the hotel.

I highly recommend Steve's Diner for breakfast it's awesome and really cheap. It's great food and besure to get a muffin to take with you for a snack man those are great i get hungry just thinking about them.LOL Also for a cheap lunch/dinner try any of the pasta dishes i love the eggplant parm. For a really NICE dinner that want break you try (make ressies) for Billy's Tap Room over in ormond. Just leave your hotel and head north on atlantic at the big light where there are malls on both sides to your left (there's an outback in one of the malls take a left go about 1/4 mile it's on your left you'll spot the brown caponies. AMAZING food best crab cakes i've ever had. Fish in a bag is popular and so is the hamburger steak. It's all menu orders only not a buffett. It's really a treasure oh and a full bar.LOL For some yummy food try bubba gumps at the ocean walk shoppes LOVE the hushpuppy appetizers! And if you get time go down to Aunt Catfishs on the river in Port ORANGE. They have a great condiment bar and salad bar man they are great and plenty of food. I'd recommend ressies if you go the weekend or at dinner time. Hope this helps you out. Those are our MUST do's on trips.

Vacation Nut: I would take the advise of the tripadvisors reviews. If i can't help you with a room let me know. I recommend treasure island resort it's a nice 3* hotel they just did a remodel and we used to stay there before we moved to ocean walk resorts.

Daytona, in general, blows. I despise it. Did I tell you I grew up there? YUCK!

If you must stay in a hotel there, do it at the Adam's Mark. If not, it's gonna be sleazy.

Thanks for all your replies, it looks like we are stuck with Boardwalk Inn and Suites as all hotels in the area are booked for speedweeks. I guess we will have to make do with what we are given! I was wondering about the restaurant at the lighthouse at the end of South Atlantic has anyone been there for a romantic dinner??

Vacanut,

Sorry you're stuck with the Boardwalk Inn. Maybe they had to replace everything and do some remodeling from the hurricane damage so everything will be fresh and new for you all. I hope so, and I'd love to hear how your trip was when you return. We've never been brave enough to go during speedweek.

Not sure if this is the restaurant, but we've had dinner at Down the Hatch, which is at the end of Ponce's Inlet. I think there's another more fancy one at the marina though. We drove out there in a mustang convertible and had a table with a very romantic view of the intercoastal complete with the most beautiful sunset and sailboats floating by...it was one of those evenings I wish I could put in a bottle, LOL. The view was much more memorable than the food. I remember the crab bisque being fantastic, rich with lots of crab, and dh liked the fish spread appetizer, but our entrees were just ok. We enjoyed the food much more at the Ocean Deck, which you can walk to from the Boardwalk Inn. We usually share a "choose three" seafood platter and it's huge and very good. They also have the best Jamaican style wings, very hot and spicey, and you can buy the sauce there. Ask for Cassie and order her vanilla drink, it's yummy too.

Here's a list Party of 6 was so kind to post for me a little while back and two links I found...couldn't find one for Down the Hatch, sorry.

Have fun!

For a great breakfast, lunch or dinner try out Steve's Famous Diner. When we arrive in town this is our FIRST stop usually for lunch. I love the eggplant parm. You WILL NOT get a bad meal there. If you see something you like don't worry and order it you will not be dissappointed. Check out the fresh baked HUGE muffins on the counter they make a great snack or lunch. Coffee is excellent here. Meals are not expensive. And they WILL make mickey pancakes upon request. This resturant is located on atlantic blvd. south. If you come in off Internation Dr dead end at the beach take a right about 1 mile on the right is Steve's it's a not to miss each trip usually our first and last stop. We get breakfast on the way out of town.

Aunt Catfishs is a must. Great fresh seafood here. Travel down atlantic south to Port Orange take a right at the light and cross the bridge it's immediatley on your left. They serve lunch and dinner excellent salad bar and HOT bar with fixings. Never had a bad meal in all the years.

Billy's Tap room- Ohhhhhh man is this a yummy place to eat. It's only open for supper. Been a mainstay in Daytona for like 85 years! So you know it's good! Great Bread on the table, homemade dressings, food is freshly made to order. They are FAMOUS for there crab cakes and if you try them you'll see why. IF you are sick of seafood try the hamburger steak it's homemade and treffic! They also serve other steaks a popular dish is there fish in a bag never tried it but a TON of people are always getting this when we are there. You WILL need ressies' for this place it's draws the locals out in droves. If you are at the dead in on Int' to turn north or south onto atlantic take a left and head north about 5-6 miles you will come to a large stop light look for it there is a mall caddy corner the stop light. Take the left turn here. Travel about a 1/4 mile you will pass an out back on the right but look to your left look HARD or you'll miss it. There is a burgundy canopy out front that will say Billy's tap room. There is a red light there take a left and park street side and walk around front to enter billy's. If you go across the bridge you've passed it.

Julian's- this is an excellent resturant for steaks, seafood ect... They have nightly live piano playing. Family owned resturant. No ressie's needed if you arrive say by 7. It's on the way to Billy's Tap room. Using the same directions before you get to the light to turn right to go to Billy's about 1 mile before the light you'll pass Julians. Look for the red building with a STEEP roof Julians is printed up on the roof.

Port Orange STeakHOuse. Best steaks around! Wonderful LOADED baked potatoes. Check the hours they are open for lunch and supper. If you are driving like to aunt catfishes and cross the bridges travel on about another mile or so look for the Kmart shopping plaza on the left you'll be coming up to a stop light it's located on the far side of that plaza. YUMMY!!!!!

Ocean Deck is located on the ocean with a view of the ocean. It's n. atlantic blvd. Great food extended dinner hours i think they are open till two. The best lobster rolls we've ever had. Clam chowder in a bread bowl can't be beat and a yummy mahi mahi!! Will not break your budget.

These are my favorite places in Daytona besides the Krispy Creme.LOL BTW that's on internaional drive coming towards the beachs on the right i suggest you stay in the left lane coming in just in case that HOT sign is ON.LOL Have a wonderful trip.
