Days to see everything?

I'm taking a friend to Disneyland on a weekend in August. She has never been to any of the parks. Will two days be long enough to go on all the rides, see most of the shows, and visit characters in both Disneyland and CA? Any tips on making the most of our time?

Also are there perks from getting a first visit sticker? And how do I get those stickers?

August is one of the busiest times of the year to visit so keep that in mind. On slower days at the park it can take a min. of 3 days to see it all. 2 days you are certainly going to be rushed.

If you purchase a Disney park hopper 3 days or more, on select days you automatically get a magical morning which gets you into the park an hour earlier before the general public to visit Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland.

Also if you want a first time button, just got to City Hall on Main Street, and they will be happy to give you a free button.

You can also get the button at Guest Services (we did that because we were there before the park opened and wanted to get it out of the way), or some of the stores have them too.

I would definately spend more than two days between both parks. Too much to do, too little time to do it in. If it is a first trip for someone, it shouldn't be rushed. They should be able to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of Disneyland without time constraints.

IMO two days is not enough unless you exhaust yourselves. And even then I am not sure. You can do most of the better rides and most of the better shows in two days. And if that is all you want you will be good. If you truly want to do it all I would say three days minimum if you hustle and four days if you want to go at a more relaxed pace.

Standard stuff.

o Know and use FP
o Get there early
o Take afternoon breaks to a hotel to swim and nap
o Use RideMax if you need help getting a good schedule

I went with 2 friends in April. we arrived friday around 10pm, hit the parks hard saturday and sunday, one friend left monday around noon. By that time, we had seen/done pretty much everything. We used fast passes wisely and never waited more than 25 minutes in a line. But we were so sore and tired... other friend and I stayed 2 more days but were exhausted and spend a lot of time sitting on main street and by the castle.

As PP's have mentioned, you can get the first visit buttons from City Hall or Guest Relations. There are no perks but it's cool to wear one ;) On the other hand, if you have a birthday or an anniversary, a lot of restaurants will give you a dessert or something on the house, which is nice :)

I also feel that you need at least 3 days at the parks to do everything, especially in August when it can get pretty crowded (depending on which APs are blocked out). Plus, it was really hot when we went last August and DBF and I went back to the hotel for a break most days to cool down (but then again, we are from San Francisco so anything outside of our 70 degree bubble is hot :rotfl:). But yea...learn the FP system and use it wisely! And definitely get to the parks at least 20 minutes prior to opening to get a head start before it gets super crowded.

Since 2 days is what you have to work with, I would get familiar with the Fastpass system as well as the entertainment schedule so you can have as much planned as possible. Have fun!!!

I wouldn't want to take a first timer to DLR with only two days. I certainly wouldn't want them to be exhausted and dissapointed. They may get a sour taste for DL and not want to return because they are dead tired. :scared1:
If 2 days is your limit, I would make a list of what you want to accomplish and not try to do or see everything, just the highlights; that way anything more you accomplish will be a bonus:) This will also make an excellent excuse to do a return trip! :cool1:
Park opening to closing commando trips are not for everyone :worship:
DL is best savored :)
