Has anyone stayed at Days Inn West, on the corner of Disneyland Drive and Ball Road?

If so, what kind of transportation did you use to get to the parks? Can you hop on the Disney tram? Or would that be silly and way out of the way?

How was your overall stay?

Thanks!

Never been to that hotel, but if it's a short walk to the parking-lot tram, what's the big deal. They won't know. I've used the tram while staying on Katella.

I stayed there during my trip this past August. I decided to take ART. It is my understanding, that the walk is @10-15 minutes to the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure. Once there, then you would board a tram. I decided I am not going to go through that process. For I am not interested in walking anymore than I have to, so as to wait for transportation. I like to save my feet, whenever I get a chance to do so. I had no problem with ART. I patronized that service for three days in a row. You would take the number 10 ART from Days Inn, to go to Disneyland. There are also connections that one can make, at Dl. with ART. So as to go to for example, Target, you would board the number 1 bus. Then just reverse the route, so as to arrive at your final destination. You can purchase ART bus passes at the hotel.

The complimentary breakfast is minimal, however, if you are not a big breakfast eater, which I am not (it is the night that gets me ;) he he) then you may like it. One morning, when I went to Disneyland, I decided I did not have time to pick anything up, at the hotel. So, upon arriving at the park, I came to find out, that it was one of the mornings that the park guests were allowed (30 minutes early) onto Main Street, before the park officially opened. I did a bit of window shopping, then decided to go to the Blue Ribbon Bakery, to order orange juice, and a chocolate croissant. Yum! to both.
The next morning, I decided to just get a cup of orange juice at the hotel. Then I sipped that, while walking over to the ART/OCTA stop. It is very close to DIW. AH, it was a thing of beauty, if the bus was not pulling up to the stop as I was approaching, it was there within minutes, as in less than 5, if even that. Before I knew it, I was at Disneyland! Yay! :)
If you decide to walk to the parking lot, you just walk up Disneyland Drive and then follow it into the parking lot. Another reason why I decided not to walk to the parking structure, is because the weather ( for me anyway) was very hot, and humid. I took one good look up that road, and thought, no way! I just simply wilt in heat! Thank god, the last day that I was at Disneyland, the weather was not as hot, but for me, still hot all the same, and it was not quite as humid, either. I could tell going by how my jeans were or were not sticking to me. (blah!)

I had a very nice view of the fireworks show from Disneyland, at the Days Inn. All that I had to do was to walk right outside from my room, and there they were,:) each evening, at @ 9:25 p.m. Some of the fireworks were so loud, that they set off some car alarms. I for some reason, got a kick out of that.

There was much in the way of traffic noise. I was so tired the day that I had arrived, that between that and having the air conditioner on ( very hot weather, for me anyway) that I had no problem whatsoever with sleeping that evening. Nor the next several either. I had the air conditioner on during the day, and evening, and over night as well. That beautifully drowned out the noise from the traffic, that is right out side of your door, practically.

My room was clean, comfortable, and I was never disturbed by housekeeping. There were no hidden charges, and the parking is free (which I did not need this trip)
I do prefer the top floor, though, for I would hear the pitter patter of not so small feet, each night. Fortunately, all was quite by the time, that I really needed it to be. So that was the important thing.
By my standards, the only truly within walking distance, dinning wise, was the AM/PM mini mart, ;) (yeah I know not gourmet, so what he he) that is across the street from this property. Sure I like to have more choice than that, but most of my dining and snacking was done at Disneyland, so what did I really care? Not too much, thats how much.
I bought snacks at the park, to bring back to my room. I brought back tasty leftovers, for a midnight nosh. The mini mart, served my purposes well enough, plus they have souvenirs to which to eye.
I do recommend this property. They also have a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, and laundry facilities. What I had spent there for 4 nights/5 days, one could not book the GCH for one evening. When I have the budget for such accommodations, then I might book there, or PP, or at the original Disney Hotel. However, until then, if anyone thinks that I am not going to visit Disneyland, just because what best fit into my budget at the time, is not the latter stated above, yeah right, that is not the case with me. That is why I get kind of a kick out of people that will say that they are hotel snobs, well to that I say, that is fine, for as long as you do not go into debt, just because you cannot settle for a property that is not 4 stars or higher.People need to remember, that whatever you can afford is what is important, not what someone else can. Who cares what some one else is doing, really! After all is that other person going to pay your bills?

Thanks for your responses. :goodvibes

As of right now I have also been quoted the same rates for the Anaheim Plaza, and the Del Sol. I'm leaning towards these because of the location.
The week between Christmas and New Years is not the best time for cheap sleeps. :sad2:

I definitely would choose a closer location, in the event that the rates are the same. Hopefully the other hotels, do not charge for parking. Apparently there are some, that will do so, even if you do not have your car with you. I think that is just outlandish.
