Days Inn Suites Old Towne or Magic Castle

Help, Help....Please

I have gotten great prices on both these hotels which would you go to????

Is it the Days Inn like right next to Old Towne? If it is we stayed there 2 years in a row. Not bad but not great either. The first year we stayed there, when we pulled back the blackets to get ready for bed, it looked like their was fresh dried blood on the sheets. We ended up going to wal-mart and buying sheets and a comforter and used that during our stay. The second year we had no problems but we did bring our own sheets and comforter again. Other then that there was no problems.

i WOULD NOT STAY THERE AGAIN IF IT WERE FOR FREE.

wE WERE THERE IN 1995 AND IT IS A TOTAL DUMP VERY DIRTY AND JUST GRUNGY. FROM WHAT I'VE READ HERE IT IS STILL THE SAME.

ALSO THEY DON'T ADVERTISE THAT YOU HAVE TO RENT THE DISHES FOR THE KITCHENS THEY HAVE.

GO TO THE CASTLE HOTEL OR CHECK INTO ONE OF THE ALL STARS ON DISNEY PROPERTY. YOU MAY FIND A GOOD RATE THERE.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES STAY AT DAY'S INN AND SUITS.

We stayed at Calaspo Cay last year and while there was no kitchen there was a wet bar (coffee machine/microwave/fride) and it was CLEAN and we enjoyed it. Very reasonable $$$and with two separte sleeping area's gave us plenty of room to spread out.

again, DO NOT DO DAY'S INN.

NOT BAD?? You're much too kind. You shouldn't have to bring your own sheets and blankets (even in a 2* budget hotel). There are plenty of lower cost properties (and even PL) to choose from.

Wow, dried blood on the sheets at DI! That is one of the reasons my friends checked out of the Magic Castle last year! Dried blood...nasty!!

I replied to your other post, too. Don't stay at the MC either!! Try Priceline, or just keep looking!!

Ok, time for an alternate opinion. We stayed at Days Suites in Nov. 2002 for 7 nites in a 1-bedroom suite, rm. J-1330 to be specific. The suite is huge, much roomier than a Residence Inn, for example. The staff was very nice and responded very quickly and politely to a couple of minor problems we encountered. The room was clean, though clearly an older property. For example, not all the furniture matched and the a couple of kitchen cabinets had doors that didn't quite match.

We paid $39.95/nite. They also tack on a couple of dollars for phone and safe, so total is actually about $42/nite. They included about $40 worth of Old Town ride tickets (Old Town is literally right next to the hotel).

Overall, I thought the place was clean, quiet and decently maintained and a great value for the price.

All of that said, I've recently discovered Windsor Palms which is a brand new gated community of 2 and 3 bedroom condos and 3-5 bedroom pool homes. You can get a 2-bedroom condo there for as little as $55. I haven't actually stayed there, but I think its worth a look. They just opened in 2002 so everything is new. There is a large community pool and a clubhouse with pool table, ping pong, a movie theater, etc. We're booked in a 3-bedroom condo for November for $90/nite (we're splitting that 50-50 with a relative so only costing us $45/nite). I've never been to Magic Castle so I can't comment on that.

I used to stay at the Magic Castle some years ago as a decent, low cost option. However, it seemed they stopped taking care of the place sometime in the late 1990's. The last time we stayed there (for one night in 2001) it had become an absolute dump. My daughter's white socks were jet black after walking on the carpet for about a half an hour. There was dirt and grime everywhere. I guess in order to be able to sell rooms for $20 something bucks a night, you gotta cut back on maintenance.

btw, most all accounts I've ever read of the Days Inn have been uniformly bad.

I stayed at the Days Inn near old town back in 1991 and I thought it was old and in need of updating back then. The rooms were musty and we were very let down. The only plus about this hotel is its proximity to old towne and the Dennys' across the road.

I really don't think its fair to judge a hotel based on an experience 12 years ago. My review is based on our stay there in November 2002. I'm quite certain the place has been remodeled since you were there.

By the way, did you stay at the Days Inn or the Days Suites? They are two seperate properties.

I specifically stated the fact that it was 12 years ago.

I'm not judging the place just telling of my experience and giving my personal opinion .

And hopefully it has changed in twelve years but it could also have changed for the worse.

And it was the Days Inn.

We stayed at Days Suites for years, and after watching it decline, posted many items on these boards warning people to never stay there.
However, in January of 2003, based on a recent recommendation, we stayed there for a couple of nights. It was fine. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. It was very nice being next to Old Town again. Remembering the price (it was about $40), I felt I got value for my money. It's certainly not fancy, but it is okay.

This is exactly what we felt. It certainly isn't fancy, but its a great value for the price. We paid $39.95/nite in November and had tons of space. Plus you can walk a few hundred yards and be in Old Town. I'm glad to hear from someone who had been there years ago who could compare with the current status. Our Nov. stay was our first time there.
