Hi, we r trying to potty train my son, he will b 3 in 2 weeks. I really think potty traing my son is going to be big struggle, especially since he goes to daycare.

My son usually wakes up dry, goes potty and we get ready for daycare. In the evenings he usually does pretty good and on weekends he is doing good with using the potty too. Dont get me wrong, he still goes in his diaper too but when he is home he is going on the toilet and telling me he has to go sometimes.

At daycare, he does not go at all. Yes, I understand kids at daycare r busy playing and thats y some have a harder time while at daycare but my problem is that I work at the daycare my son attends. Therefor, I see first hand the lack of help his teachers give with potty training and I dont know what to do. His teachers have already told other parents that it is not their job to potty train the kids, but come on, lets face it most kids r at daycare more than they r home.
I have been telling his teachers that he is doing well with potty training at home. They tell me every time they check him at daycare he is already wet so they dont put him on the toilet they just change his diaper. I would like them to ask him to sit on the toilet every hour or so. I work at the center so I know how busy they r, and I understand that the toddler room is a very hectic room, but dont u agree that the teachers have to help? The teachers r very nice and I dont think they r intentionally not helping with the potty training, I just think they r too busy. I dont want to cause any friction between me and they other teachers so how do i politely say that they need to help more? Does any1 have any suggestions on what I should do? This totally wouldnt be an issue with me if I felt my son wasnt ready for potty training because we do have many 3 yr olds at our center who r not trained because they r not ready. I figure if my son can go potty at home (while I'm helping and working with him) then he should be able to go at daycare (with assistance and encouragment). Thanks

I know this is off topic but it is REALLY hard to read your posts with all the 'text' talk.

I wish you luck on that. There are alot of daycares in this area who won't even take kids who aren't potty trained.

I worked in a toddler room of a very large centre, it was a busy place but we never just changed a diaper--every child sat on the potty when we changed them. We took them very regularly as well to try and avoid the wet diapers. In the end, it's far more convenient for the teachers to have children in the room who are toilet trained. I think I would talk to the teachers in the room about consistency between the home and daycare. Hopefully they will co-operate. Good luck!
