Who's there?: Ron (DH-38), Eryn (DD - 18), and me (37).
Park(s): MGM
Date: December 28
A full night of sleep does wonders!!!! We awake refreshed, and are ready to leave in just 30 minutes.
MGM is a ghost town!! I can't believe how quiet it is! Eryn and I get ride Tower of Terror, while Ron gets us a Fastpass for Rockin' Rollercoaster. (He's not a fast ride guy.) The wait for ToT is posted at 20 minutes, but we are in and out in around 10 minutes. Even though I've been on this since it was changed, it seemed like the drops were better - we hung in the air at one point. It was great, as was RR. We decided to wait the 20 minutes posted (pretty accurate this time), going standby. We never got back to do our Fastpass. We bought the poster for Eryn's college dorm room.
By now it is drizzling steadily, and so Eryn and I are glad we brought our ponchos from our last trip. Ron insisted we wouldn't need them, and so refused to bring his. He toughed it out for awhile, but broke down and bought one later!!
We are supposed to meet our Pixies (Ron and Eryn don't know) at 10:00 at Muppets 3D. It is only 9:10, so we go to the Backstage Tour. After waiting a while, I realize that with the 35 minute show/tour, we are risking being late for our SURPRISE, so I sneak up to talk to the castmember running the Backstage Tour. I explain the situation, and she allows us to skip the first show, and proceed directly to the tram (I tell Ron & Eryn that we've seen it so many times, I thought we could pass - they bought it!!)
We hurried to Muppets 3D after the tour (I couldn't believe Ron & Eryn didn't question this decision! We've done Muppets a ton, and they had to wonder why the rush. I explained that I wanted to find rides out of the rain. They seemed to buy it!) I spotted the Pixies (the same girls we had met when I used Jane and Presentations: Gifts of a Lifetime for our honeymoon), and so they got behind us in line. The plan was that we would watch the show, and at the part at the end of Muppets when the cannonballs are flying around, a cannonball would land in Eryn's lap. It worked great - so well that Eryn almost tossed the cannonball, thinking it was part of the show, and needed to be passed on! The show finished, and we stepped outside to investigate the 'cannonball'. It was a crepe-paper-streamer wrapped ball, and had a tag attached, explaining that Eryn and Ron were to unwrap the ball, alternating unwrapping when the color of streamer changed. Inside, as they unwrapped, little gifts dropped out. In all, there were about 20 cute little knickknacks and sweet gifts. Ron and Eryn were really surprised.
We decided to walk around, and then head back to our hotel for a nap and our only meal not in a park.
We returned to MGM at about 5:00, since we had PS at 5:40 at Brown Derby. Eryn and I shared the Cobb Salad, Ron had the Pork Tenderloin. It definitely was tasty, but not close to enough food for Ron. He ate all the pork in four bites! Although I liked my salad a lot (the grapefruit cake I had heard so much about was a bit more sour than I would have liked), we probably won't eat dinner here again, since it was expensive, and Ron needed to eat again! Lunch might be OK.
After dinner, we meandered around the Osborne Family Lights. We timed it for right before Fantasmic got out. Wow! The lights were amazing - talk about Disney magic - and we loved the Christmas carols. No rain, the temperature was fine, and the crowds were light. It was great!!! We even got our pictures with Santa Goofy, with only a 10 minute wait.
We soaked up the atmosphere a bit more (we've done DisneyWorld several times, so our goal on this trip was to not worry about rides, concentrating on Christmas at Disney), and then headed back to our hotel.
Tomorrow: Animal Kingdom, Murderwatch Theater, and Pleasure Island.....
