This was Monday, probably our most relaxing day at Disney World. We got some breakfast from the concierge lounge, and decided we wanted to check out the pool today. We all put our swimsuits on and went down...it was like 9:30 or 10:00 in the morning still! Not many other people down there. The Poly pool is fantastic...a big volcano themed pool, with a water slide and zero entry. My DS2 LOVED the zero entry, he and I basically sat in the shallow end while he played. DD7 explored the rest of the pool...then we got out and the kids played in the sand on the beach! They had a ball doing this. DH and I just sat on the chairs and talked, I mean really TALKED, as in "not being interrupted 100 times by the kids!"
We then rented a couple water mice...this was a little different than what I imagined, those things have MOTORS on them...(the last time I did something like this, they were PADDLE boats) I had DD7 with me, and DH took DS2...we rented them for an hour and we had a blast!! We went fast, we went slow, we tried to follow each other, etc. DD7 was having so much fun, she would just YELL out, "WHOOOOOOO!!!" It was so funny. It was a beautiful day, with the sun shining and the wind in our hair, and our mundane work world seemed a million miles away...

I was having a little trouble with our boat, it kept dying on me. But so far I'd gotten it restarted with no problem... that was until we got a *little too close* to the bank...I'm not sure how that happened, but my boat died again, and DD7 and I were drifting towards the grass on the edge!! I didn't know whether to try to restart it...but before I could do anything, the big rescue boat came for us...she pulled us out of the grass, and then tried to restart my boat, which would not restart, even for the expert! I told DD7 this was embarassing, and she said, "Why is it embarassing Mom? It's JUST a rescue!" Too funny. We had to get INTO the rescue boat, since she couldn't get our boat restarted. So she got us back to land safely!

After this, we were all starving and thirsty and went to Capt. Cook's...don't let desperation for food lure you into this place...everything was like cardboard, like they'd cooked it all yesterday, and just decided to throw it under some heat lamps and see if some poor Joe's would come by and actually pay money for it. Well, we did...but in the future we WON'T!

We went to MGM after this, and we saw Little Mermaid, Muppet Vision 3-D, and the moment we had all been waiting for: seeing Woody and Buzz, the characters. My son is an absolute Toy Story fanatic, and he wore his Woody costume this day. DD7 also was dressed as Jessie. When Woody and Buzz came out, DS2 was in pure shock!! He just looked and looked at them. The characters seemed to really get a kick out of my Jessie and Woody and finally DS warmed up enough to skake hands with Woody! We got a bunch of pics and they were priceless. After that was the MGM parade, which was a must-see for us this trip, since we had never seen it. When Woody and Buzz came thru with the parade, they saw my Jessie and Woody again and gave them two thumbs up!! DD7 got a real thrill from that!

When we got back to the hotel, the conc. lounge had already served the evening offerings. We just asked if they had anything left over, and the main chef brought us out a plate of sandwiches! They were turkey and cheese and mayonnaise on white bread! Not even my favorite, but still absolutely scrumptious!!! (The main offering this evening had been sushi, but we were happy with the sandwiches!) We watched the fireworks from the lounge and went to bed..........

Those water mice sound like so much fun.

Thanks for posting this :)

sounds like you had fun anyways......thanks for the great report

I love the Poly, but I have to agree that Captain Cook's has the most awful food!

Pretty cool about getting the sandwiches in the concierge lounge, though. :)

:D LOL! That would be me in the grass with the boat too! It's nice to know someone came by to help you. It must have been so great for your little ones to meet up with the toy story characters and then have them recognize them later! Pure Disney magic!

I've gotta try those boats some day. I remember them from my first trip almost 20 years ago and I've never tried them since!
thanks for posting, enjoying your reports

You'll ALWAYS remember this trip - when you got stuck in the bushes with the boat! Sounds like fun!!!! I'd love to stay at Poly some day.
