We have a week planned in HH in June and are trying to think of some fun day trips. We did the Savannah historic district (including Paula Deans) last year. We're looking for some other ideas that might be fun for dd6 and dd3. We'll do most things on HH Island, but thought it might be fun to explore a bit further as well.

Beaufort, SC is 45 minutes north of HHead. It's a mini-Savannah. There are carriage rides through the historic areas. (This is an area where scenes from Forrest Gump and the Big Chill, as well as other movies were shot.) The down town area includes cute shops and restaurants and a park on the water. There are also bridges leading to some adjacent islands.

You might also consider some of the boat excursions that leave from HHead - maybe to Daufuskie Island ...

Fort Pulaski is on Tybee Island - near Savannah. It is a national park, so they have guided tours by park rangers. The day we were there they had a cannon demonstration. Very loud - my daughter had a 'blast' no pun intended. We also ate at a restaurant called the Crab Shack which had great fresh seafood. Have a great time! Hoping to get back to HH again soon!
