Day 9 – Saturday, May 7th

Our last full day at Disney. :( Always bitter sweet. I feel like I want to cram as much magic and fun into that last day as humanly possible. This is also the time when we start thinking about when we’ll be back. ;) I’m sure you can all understand that feeling. The sooner you start planning your next trip the better you feel. As long as I’ve got a countdown timer running on my computer desktop, no matter what the number of days, then I’m happy.

We start our last day with a very special monorail ride to Epcot sitting in the front! Boy the kids were thrilled. Their eyes were soaking in everything that zoomed by, and they were ecstatic with their Monorail Licenses! :cloud9:

We took in a few attractions… Spaceship Earth, Journey into Imagination, etc, then it was time for the Mother’s Day Hero Brunch inside the Millennium Pavilion, right next to Canada and the UK in the World Showcase. We hadn’t told the boys about it, so they had no idea where we were going. But the minute we walked into the pavilion they knew something big was going on. There were characters EVERYWHERE!! We saw Mickey, Peter Pan, Aladdin, Hercules, Beast, Prince Eric, Prince Charming, just about any Hero you could think of! :) The boys were so excited they didn’t even want to go into the brunch. LOL!! Here are a few pictures:

(for some reason our youngest was afraid of Hercules! LOL!!!!)

Once we finally got inside we were blown away by the amount of food offered!! And not just the amount but the quality… it was really great. Probably the best meal we’ve ever had at WDW. (and we’ve had a lot of them!!) Here is a picture of the menu:

And here is a picture of the boys and I at our table. I’m forcing a Mother’s Day hug!!! ;)

After we ate…. And ate…. And ate…. ;) we headed back out to the picture area for a few more autographs and photos. Here is a favorite:

I’m sure glad we got to experience this event. I really hope Disney starts having more character meals that appeal to boys. The princesses are great and all, but for our boys this was perfect!

Well, we spent the rest of the afternoon at Epcot just taking in the attractions and enjoying the Flower and Garden Festival. It was a nice way to spend our last day. We did end up heading back to the Poly in time for one last swim before dinner… then it was back to the Magic Kingdom for the vacation finale! :)

We had dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table… the meal was excellent… then capped off the night with Spectromagic and Wishes. There is no better way to end a trip let me tell you. The only downside was the last boat back to Poly knowing we were going home. :( Nine nights seems like such a long time when you’re planning, but I swear time goes by so fast you feel like you just got there. I guess that’s the sign of a great vacation and money well spent. Now, as I sit at home writing this report, I just smile thinking of the memories, the funny stories, the joy on the boys’ faces, the magic, and I wonder what life would be like without Disney. Whatever that might be I hope I never find out.

SEE YA REAL SOON!!!!! :wave2:

A wonderful trip report, Erika! :cool1: Was this the last installment or do you have another day to post?

Day 10 was actually pretty funny... we had a heck of a time getting home. :rotfl: I guess I might do one more. ;)

Thanks so much Erika! As usual I enjoyed reading your reports and seeing your pictures. Funny thing, as I was reading through your trip reports this afternoon, my 8 year old daughter was down watching your show (we recorded it)! Now she's singing, "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow"! So when is the next trip? We were there from the 26th-1st, my daughter looked for you so you could sign her autograph book!

Yah, the last day is always bittersweet. You're right nine days should be a lot of time, I think that too...but it is never enough. Time flies by way too quickly. Thanks for posting the menu from the Mother's Day Brunch! My mouth is just watering looking at all that food listed on the menu conjuring the various flavors in my mind.

Have fun planning your next trip :flower:

WOW, I was there on the 7th, but I hung out at Downtown waiting for my Hotel room. :goodvibes Nine days, thats great, maybe my vacation will be that long, so far I have done 6 nights! :earseek:

Thanks for the reports. They made a slow day at work go by a lot quicker! Sounds like you had a great time! Thanks again!

I so enjoyed your trip report, especially the pics of the Hero Brunch! I pouted for weeks to go for Mother's day, but I guess my DH has grown immune to THE POUT! Thanks again!

I was just looking at your pic & trying to figure out how I know you! DUH! I have you on tivo! :rotfl: Do you get recognized on the street often? I wish they'd start a hero character meal. That would be great. :)

Thanks Erica. I so enjoyed all your posts. I really hope they start doing "hero character meals". They really should gear some more things towards boys. My son is now 6 and really doesn't get into the princesses. He would have loved the heros though.

Erika,

Just loved your reports. They made me feel like I was there! Your last report literally brought a tear to my eye. I hope I never know a world without Disney either!

toystoryduo - Our last day was just getting to the airport and going home. Not much to tell. ;) The funniest thing that happened was we had all these leftover counter service meals so we went down to Captain Cooks and got like 6 meals to go!! :rotfl: Then we were running late and almost missed our plane!!! They were actually calling us over the intercom as last call!!!! :teeth:

Amy&Dan - Our next trip is September 1st and we're staying at the AKL. :)

magicalmom - We actually live in a pretty small city so most people know us as "the disney people". :rotfl: When the show first aired I got stopped quite a few times. So that was neat. This last trip to WDW we were recognized about 4 times which was really cool. :) Still to this day I get PMs here on the DIS from people about the show. I'd guess I've had 300 over the last year since the show first aired. I have saved all of them in a folder to show the kids when they get older. :) Their 15 minutes of fame!!!! :teeth:

I enjoyed your trip reports so much! :) It was also great to see your family in action at WDW on the Travel channel yesterday! Glad you all had such a fun time and thanks for the WDW tips!

What a fantastic report and a wonderful mothers day. Thankyou so much for sharing,
Claire

Hi Erika! :wave2:

I just wanted to stop by and say I enjoyed your trip report. It was great! :goodvibes I'm glad to hear that you got your money's worth out of the dining plan too. ;) :teeth:

I finally got Fan's Guide to WDW on my DVR! Woohoo! :Pinkbounc One of my DD's (not sure which one :ssst: It's a mystery to this day. ;) ) accidentally erased about 1/4 of the show that I taped the first time it aired. :earseek: So I am glad I got it on the DVR this time around. :teeth: Your family does such a great job in that show!!::yes:: I do have a question for you about it so I am sending you a PM. Hope you don't mind.

Thanks for sharing your trip report and the 5-5-5 celebration! Very cool! :smooth:
