My first attempt at writing a trip report.....be patient with me.
Who: Diane (me) somewhere between 30 and 40
Mom if I wrote her age down, I wouldn't see tomorrow!
Dad 66 (gives you a clue on mom's age)
Where: Animal Kingdom Lodge
When: November 28 - December 8
Why: It's Christmas time!
Sunday, December 1 My parents chose to drive down here from Minnesota, so they are scheduled to arrive today. The original plan was to have them page me when they are about 1 hour from AKL and I'd leave a park and join them. You know what they say about the best laid plans.....if you've been reading the entire report, you know about 2 weeks ago I was in Los Angeles. During my short stay there I went to Disneyland and my pager found it's way into the waterway system - never to be seen again! (Darn those automatic flushers!) Well, I'm still trying to get a replacement pager, so now we are on plan B. Call my cell phone.
Animal Kingdom I thought Animal Kingdom would be pretty slow this morning, so I headed over there. Got to the park about 9:15am and headed to Kilimanjaro Safaris for a Fast Pass. Return time was 10:30 so off to Tusker House for Breakfast. I saw that the drummers were performing at 10:30, so I hung out and waited for their show. I just love those drums! The acrobats are off on Sunday, so I'll have to watch them another day.
Fast Pass time came and off on the safari I go....Saw all the animals and the high point was watching a White Rhino roll around in the mud! (I think he wanted to be a Black Rhino) It was about 11:10am when the safari ended so I did a bit of window shopping and made my way down to Camp Mickey/Minnie for The Festival of the Lion King show.
Show was fabulous! and I was first in line to see Santa Goofy after the show. Gave Goofy a big hug and verified that he will be back at Disneyland when I'm there on December 11. Isn't it amazing that Goofy vacations at the same time I do???
Was about 1:00pm and I knew my parents would be arriving about 1:30ish so I decided to head back to AKL. My cell phone never rang - just buzzed me that I had a message. Guess it helps to have the ringer 'ON' not 'OFF'
My parents were about 40 minutes out 10 minutes ago, waited for the bus and headed back to the resort to meet them.
Rest of the day is pretty boring - they got here, unpacked and sat on the balcony for a majority of the day. Got to watch the VIKINGS lose Those bums! . At one point we saw 15 animals from our balcony. We had 2 giraffe's 3 zebra's, a few Elands and some Wildebeasts. Most animals I've ever seen near each other.
Dinner at Boma's was very good. My father is not a fan of spicy and even he enjoyed it.
My dad has never been to WDW, so tomorrow is off to Animal Kingdom and MGM.
Tomorrow: The giraffe that wanted to eat the safari vehicle!
