If I wanted to reserve day-by-day for next May (arriving Tuesday after Memorial Day), would I need to make it all on points, or could I try to get cash rooms for Friday & Saturday? If I need to make it all on points, could I then be put on a waitlist for the cash part? I know it's pretty early to be planning this all out, but my September trip is already done, and I'm ready to get the next one going :goodvibes

I'm not sure if it answers your question, but I've always found it less difficult to get nights on cash than on points. I remember once that I was on the waitlist for points for months. Then for some reason, I called one day and asked if the villa was available on cash (one way or another, we REALLY wanted it). Surprisingly, it had been available all that time on cash. We've called a few times for day by day with some nights on cash and some nights on points. We just specify when we call whether we want points or cash. I've gotten villas for cash, and gone on the waitlist for that same reservation on points.

That's extremely helpful -- thank you! I just have to figure out if everybody wants to stay 9 nights instead of 7. You wouldn't think that would be a hard question, but with my group it could get dicey :rotfl:

May and early June is one of the easier times to book WDW DVC accomodations. Unless you are trying for concierge at the AKV (or something at HHI or a Beach Cottage at VB), you don't need to do day by day at 11 months

Just curious. No need to reply - and of course if you want to do day by day, you certainly may. MS won't care.

do they make you checkin each time and also do they let you stay in the same unit or do you have to move.

We did a trip last January with five days on points and then Fri and Sat for cash. The reservations were linked, so we didn't have to move rooms, but we did have to check out/in on Friday.

Also, if I recall correctly, there is no waiting list for cash reservations. We kept calling every day for a couple of weeks, with no luck, and starting to feel desperate. Then a new discount code became available for OKW and we ended up going through CRO to book Fri and Sat for a slightly better rate than member cash. Be aware, CRO cannot link a regular cash reservation to a DVC points reservation. We had to call back to MS to link that cash reservation to the DVC reservation.

Thanks for that info! I hadn't thought about the possibility of a discount code that might be better than the member discount.
