Day After Rule...does it apply with new EMH??

Planning used to be a little easier for those of us staying off-site...since we couldn't take advantage of the EMH in the morning, we knew to stay away from whatever park had the EMH that day and instead hit that park the following day. NOW...there are morning and evening EMHs and I'm curious to know how or if this rule still applies! The am EMH will draw families with small children (and other early risers), and the pm EMH probably draws everyone else. So, my question is: Is it better to do a park that had an am or pm EMH the day before...or does it matter anymore because the crowds are more diffused over the week?? :confused3 What do you think??

I'm in the same boat. I plan on totally avoiding EMH. If the "normal" schedule holds true for EMH, I figure Thursday should be a good day for MK since evening EMH is Wednesday and morning EMH is Friday. What do you think?

The problem for y'all is if it's the morning hours, you know that folks are going there in the a.m. For the late hours, the on-siters (including our family) might go to another park during the day, then make if over to the EMH park for the evening session.

I was thinking about that too, but it's possible people may forgo the park hopping cost which means they'd be in the EMH park all day. I'm so confused :confused3 !

LovePug,

I agree with you that Thursday might be a good day to go to MK for the reasons you mentioned...but shhhhh...let's keep that our little secret! :teeth: I also agree that many families staying onsite may opt to skip the park hopping feature (especially 1st timers) and would therefore stay in the EMH park all day. We can hope!!

Any other ideas?

Hmmm....I'm planning on MGM on Monday (for the same reason as my MK reason) and I'm going to do Epcot on Saturday. We're skipping AK this trip and are going to do the water parks/DQ instead for the first time, but if I was going to do AK it was going to be on Sunday. We're doing a second day of MK on Tuesday (We arrive on a Weds and leave on a Weds). Of course if they do the ol' switcharoo with the EMH days, it'll be back to the drawing board  .

I spent the morning looking at this today. I think Thursday at MK might be good too. That's what I have in my notes now. We will be on-site and plan to head to the park that had EMH the day before in the AM and then hop to the Late EMH park after dinner. Who knows really what will work this year? :confused3 Hopefully what will happen is that the crowds will spread out more evenly and everyone will be happy! :teeth:

All of you have made some valid points...I guess we'll all be at the MK on Thursdays. LOL! ;) And I agree that this am/pm EMH plan should spread the crowds around...though I guess only time will tell whether or not patterns develop. One thing I might consider...since so many will be hopping to the MK on EMH evenings, that may be a good night to go to Epcot...

I think we have to wait a little bit until there is more information on when is the best time to go to which parks on which days!! We were at WDW 2/2/thru 2/9 and the early mornings were busy and the late nights were packed!!! I think that the best time to go to a park is any park that is neither EEM or EMH. :wave2:

Hope you had a nice trip, dck12ga, in spite of the EMH crowds! :) Thanks for the insight too...I think you're probably right about avoiding any EMH park, morning or evening!

We don't go for several months, but I hope some information is plublsihed on how this changing the crowds movement. It should be interesting. We are going over Thanksgiving Holidays, so I don't know how they will do the hours then, it will be so busy anyway.

By the info I saw, EMH for MK is on Wednesday, so the day after would be Thursday, which will be on Thanksgiving. I heard that is the most crowded for that day, so in that case would you think Wednesday would be better? I am thinking people might still be traveling in on that day. What do you think?

It looks as though weeks that include a holiday or a special event, the EMH days change. It seems that way so far, at least...

You know, I have stayed on site for the last 15 years and have gone to early openings from when they started to have them, and have NEVER gotten there in time for the ceremonial opening. Early openings were great for going to the rides in Fantasyland that are usually 60+ minutes. SPLASH, THUNDER, and SPACE were still closed.
Times may have changed.
