Day 6 was a whirlwind of activity; it felt like we were trotting around the world. It all started early in Downtown Disney. We skipped breakfast again because we figured we could pick something up, can you tell we are a bit anxious to get going. Short wait for the car this time and we were off. Downtown Disney was empty, I guess no one else goes shopping on a Monday morning. First stop was the World of Disney. We were determined to buy as many of our souvenirs there as possible since I could get my Amex discount there. An unadvertised perk is if you spend more than $50, are staying at a resort, and use your Amex card you can get a 15% discount. It definitely helps when you have an overloaded basket like we did. From past trips, we have learned that this store has 90% of the merchandise you find in the parks so try to take advantage of the various discounts if you can. Skipping breakfast was coming back to haunt us so we stopped at the pantry to grab a muffin and some juice. Wow, the prices here are so much more reasonable that in the park. Check it out if you are looking for an inexpensive snack or small meal. I was a little disappointed by the selection in the kitchen store; most of the stuff they offer is direct from the Disney Store catalog. We then headed to Once Upon a Toy that is an amazing store for young and old. Even if you don’t have kids and are not a big one, just walk through and look at all the details on the floor, walls, and ceiling. I love this place. We bought the Clue game and a bunch of the die cast ride vehicles, this is another thing we started to collect. The obsession never ends. I was disappointed to learn that this store no longer offers discounts. When I was there back in July I was able to get the 10% Disney Club discount. You live, you learn. It was especially a bummer because the World of Disney had most of the die cast vehicles that I purchased at the Toy Store. OK enough negativity for the day, it was almost time for Disney Quest to open. We put our packages in the car and took the quick trip to the West Side. It wasn’t quite opening time, so we headed into the Virgin Megastore and of course we bought more stuff. I picked up a cool book on all the secrets and not publicized happenings in Disney Land and Kristen got a book on the history of Fast Food. Email me if you are interested in the titles.

The time has come; Disney Quest was now open. We were on the mystical elevator with some first timers and they did not know what was going on which was fun to watch. We primarily stick to the video games in this place since we have done all the large attractions before. I was pleased to learn that there were a lot of new ones to play and experience. Kristen and I raced against each other a couple of times and she even beat me playing Virtual Fighter one too many times. I think this was the highlight of her day. She is not going to let that one go for a long time. I now hate that game. Time flies in this place and before you knew it lunchtime was creeping up. We were anxious to do the full Food and Wine loop so we reluctantly left Disney Quest and headed back to Boardwalk.

We decided while walking to Epcot that we would try as many unique foods as possible on this trip. We figured, why not, they are only a couple of dollars each. Let me tell you, those couple of dollars add up fast plus the space in your stomach also disappears rather quickly. We were surprised to see a California and Florida stand this year. I even joked with the cast members at the Florida one asking where is the country of Florida. We both had our highlights; I loved the duck and cheddar cheese soupe and Kristen was fond of the Chinese noodles and lamb. However we both really enjoyed the Florida strawberry wine and I am disappointed to say that I forgot to buy a bottle before we left. It was pretty comical; Kristen wanted to try German beer because she is German after all. I got a picture of her with the cup and she took one sip and handed it to me. I guess even if you are German, it does not mean you will like the beer. I am the human garbage can so of course I just finished it off. By the time we got to Japan I was stuffed to the max so that was it for our sampling. There wasn’t much I missed, but it would have been cool to sample something from every land. After all that food we were itching for some additional exercise, I know we are sick. It was hot too so what better place to go than a water park to burn off those extra calories.

We decided on Blizzard Beach today because we haven’t been there in years. We got there at 2:55, but the cashier was nice enough to give us the discounted rate on our locker. We scoped out a spot and headed for the toboggan slides. Man, there are a lot of stairs here, good thing we were looking for some exercise. We actually went on the speed tube slide first which was a blast. The ride is over very quick, but it is a good one. It was finally time for the toboggan slides and despite a little wait, they did not disappoint. We chose the twisty side first and I had a great time steering my little mat down the chute. After a couple of rides here we headed over to the tube section which is our favorite. We love the double tubes since we could experience the slide together. The wait for the tubes was pretty long, but it moved quickly. We had the most fun here, especially at the bottom when we both fell out of the tube unexpectedly. This happened to me a couple more times, thanks to Kristen getting out of the front before I was ready. We did try the single tube once to experience the “dark” slide. I love this thing; it is such a rush not knowing what was coming up. Kristen went first and I could here her laughs and screams as she slid and dropped into darkness. I just giggled all the way down enjoying every twist and turn. We were feeling pretty brave so we headed to the top of the mountain to try the Slush Gusher’s little brother which is almost as high, but isn’t straight down. This was a first for both of us and I was a little worried Kristen would back out, but she was a trooper and overcame her fear and really enjoyed the slide. I just tried to look inconspicuous picking the bathing suit out of my behind. It was now time to relax so we hit the lazy river. I am not to good at the whole relaxing part so I swam around like a bumper boat most of the time. Closing announcements were being broadcast over the speakers so we headed to the zoo of lockers and changing rooms. After getting changed in a 2 by 2 area we were back in the car headed to Boardwalk.

We were done for the day, oh no, not us. We walked back over to Epcot for some night photos and to grab dinner. Neither of us was in the mood for a sit down dinner in one of the countries so we opted for the Land food court, which is one of our favorites. It was inexpensive by Disney standards, yummy, and satisfying. We did Spaceship Earth, Imagination, and Test Track again before walking around the countries to take pictures of them at night. We didn’t stick around for the fireworks this time, but heard them while walking back to Boardwalk. We discovered our new favorite desert right on Boardwalk. It is the crepes on a stick. I had the apple filled one and Kristen enjoyed the Swiss chocolate one. They are like heaven on a stick, especially the chocolate one. We will be trying those again real soon. What a crazy day this was, but we only have one and a half left so we had to take advantage of every second.
