Day 5 was set to be a very busy day. We were headed to Magic Kingdom for the Annual Pass Holders Scavenger Hunt. Since we did most of the attractions during the Halloween party, we were focused on finishing the challenge in one day. We took the monorail over to the park because there wasnt really a line yet. We were taking advantage of the new Magic Hour for resort guests and were thrilled to be able to enter the park early. It looked like a lot of guests were taking advantage of this so I guess Disneys strategy of eliminating it for a while then bringing it back had worked. First stop was the camera store to pick up our little books. Those things are great, full of little pictures besides the clues. They will definitely be a keepsake of ours for a long time. OK, it was now time to start and we hit the train station first. The cast member who gave us the booklets said it was a great place to start. We even took a ride around the Kingdom and some of the answers in other lands were revealed. We havent done that in years and we enjoyed the slow moving, relaxing ride. After scouring the front, back, and inside of the train station for clues we headed out onto Main St. We found a lot of the answers by just carefully looking at the writing on all the windows. There were a couple clues we had to ask for help on. Some of the cast members were very knowledgeable about the hunt, while others had no idea, but all of them tried to help. We completed all but two of the answers before we headed for Tomorrow Land. There were quite a few answers on the billboards while waking into the land. It was great, while we were counting the Toy Story aliens a cast member spotted us and told us to check with him to make sure our answer is right. This was a trick question and you had to read it carefully. He also told us that one of the answers was no longer in Tomorrow Land so he just gave it to us. Thank god for helpful cast members or we would have been pulling our hair out. We did grab fast passes for Space Mountain while we were there. We also rode the People Mover because we enjoy, plus it gives more answers. Come on, we just had to do some rides. The hunger had set in by now since we skipped breakfast, but we were both troopers and pushed onto Toon Town. Now we usually avoid Toon Town like the plague because it is overrun with strollers and screaming kids, both of which dont excite us. Fortunately for us, we had Toon Town to ourselves. The clues here are a blast to find. I couldnt believe all the detail that is hidden in the oversized cartoon houses. We even got a photo opt with Pluto behind Mickeys house. We completed this whole section and we were off to fantasy land. By this time my phone rang and my mother was headed for the park and she wanted to meet us. Neither of us was thrilled about this prospect since she already did the scavenger hunt and would try to give us answers, but she is family after all. We finished most of fantasy land while we waited for her to arrive. The only attractions we had to ride here were Snow White and Small World which were great because we pretty much walked on both. Both of these are good old-fashioned Disney fun. My mom finally did arrive and she instantly tried to give us answers, but I thwarted her efforts declaring: we dont need any stinkin help. By now it was lunchtime and we were slowing down dramatically so it was taco time. We headed over to Adventure Land to the counter service restaurant near Pirates. We completed a few clues while walking through, but we were determined to eat. There was a huge line and only one register open, which frustrated us greatly, but we waited regardless. We were determined to eat here and this was the longest line we had stood in all day, which meant it was not really that bad. Lunch was yummy and really hit the spot. It was time to finish off Adventure Land that included a ride on Pirates to cool off a little. We had a little fun in the store with all the pirate garb and we scoured the land for all the fountains to complete another clue. We finished Adventure Land with complete certainty and headed to Frontier Land. There were some tough ones here and we had to ask help quite a bit. We grabbed a big bag of jelly bellies to help us along. I believe you had to ride Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain to answer some questions, but we had help so we did not have to wait in the ever-growing lines. With lots of help, we finished Frontier Land and we were off to Liberty Square, our final land. There were some questions that I knew here without even looking which helped a lot. The real stumper in this land is the number of lanterns on the tree. The answer key says something while counting tells you another. I think cast members took off lanterns to mess with us. After running around Liberty Square and exchanging some answers with a fellow annual pass holder by the haunted mansion, we headed to Main Street to finish our booklets. We learned that the answer to one of the clues we were searching for had been removed, so the cast member gave it to us. Kristen spotted the final one and all I can say is look high in the sky. Now it was time for our prize, which we already knew, was one of those cool themed pictures. We figured we would only get one together, but since we completed two books they took two pictures. There were some other annual passholders there who also completed their booklets. Some had the nerve to complain that they were too hard. Come on now, we finally get a really cool perk as annual pass holders and people go and complain about it. Anyway, our photographer was having problems with the printer so we waited and waited and saw Tigger and the gang walk by more than once. It was finally our turn and we chose the scene with Mickey painting and a night scene in front of the castle. Both turned out great. My mom even got another picture since she completed another booklet copying our answers. We were craving desert, but my mother was tired so she called it a day and we headed for Adventure Land for Dole Whips. We shared the pineapple juice with the swirled vanilla and pineapple soft serve. It was heaven; we both really savored this desert. It was getting really crowded so we called it a day stopping in some shops on Main Street buying more candy that we did not need. We waved the Magic Kingdom a final good bye and headed back to Boardwalk.
We did not have any crazy plans for the night so we headed over to the pool. The slide here is so much fun, I must have run up those stairs a dozen times. I am just like a big kid when I am in Disney; it is such a great feeling. The stomachs started growling and the dinner bell was ringing so we jumped out of the pool and headed back to the room to change for dinner. We tried Beaches and Cream for dinner across the little lagoon. We had a seat at the counter which was fun watching the hysteria behind the scenes. We both had burgers since they come so highly recommended and enjoyed them tremendously, but we still prefer Steak N Shake. It was still relatively early so we walked over to Epcot to burn off some of those calories we had consumed all day. We had a great ride on Spaceship Earth, which is and always will be our quintessential Disney ride. The plan was to stay for the fireworks, but not to camp out in a certain spot. After hanging out in Innoventions and riding Test Track, Kristen was getting hungry again. She does not eat much, but she does eat often. She was really craving a pretzel and I was determined to find her one. It took two whole laps around World Showcase before we discovered a very tasty pretzel in Germany. Wow, this thing was really good. My mouth is watering right now thinking about it. It was about 5 minutes till the start of Illuminations so we walked around until we found an open nook to watch the show. We had a good view and saw everything. The show was very magical, but I hate to say that I enjoy the older version more. I thought the old laser show gave more viewpoints of the complete show where the globe is somewhat limited if you arent close. Either way it is still a great show and not to be missed. We strolled back to Boardwalk slowly, especially since our feet were throbbing, and took in all of todays wonderful events. This was truly a special day in Disney.
