I have to say, it was very hard to leave the HRH. "You can check out any time you like"... You know the rest. It is such a cool place and we had a $117 a night Entertainment Rate. I was bracing myself for the letdown I knew I was going to experience when I saw the rooms at the WL.
We left at 8:00 a.m. because we wanted to check in at WL and get the rental car back to the Car Care Center by 9:00.
We missed our turn off of I-4 and ended up going all the way to the last exit to World Drive. It wasn't too bad because it really helped to build the excitement. The drive into WL was exactly like the pics I had seen and made me wonder if it would have been more exciting if I hadn't overloaded on WL info before I left. But for those of you who need an overload, here is a link to the pics I took:
My Wilderness Lodge Pictures-June 2001
We checked in early-the lodge was very quiet and stunningly beautiful early in the morning. Our rooms weren't ready, so we checked our bags and headed of to return the car and go over to the TTC for the monorail ride to the MK!!
As we got of the bus at the TTC, my DF said to me, "Do you want to kill me know, or kill me later?" I said, "WHAT?" It turned out, he left his and his boys tickets to the parks in his luggage.
It got me so upset, because he did this on our last trip when we went to Blizzard Beach. That time, we got back on the bus with him, and trekked all the way back to DXL and then back to BB. We must have wasted an hour and a half. Well, I didn't care if he got upset this time. I told him we should keep the tickets together. He suggested that I take my children and go to the park, so off we went. We planned to meet back at the entrance to MK in an hour.
Now, I'm feeling guilty about this still, but we decided to go to rides that we knew his boys hated-It's a Small World and Winnie the Pooh came to mind. And since we are such Pooh fans, we (my two kids and I) headed back there. Who do we see at the end of a very short picture line? MICKEY!!! We got in line instantly and had our pic taken with him! I already have it framed, but DF still doesn't know. What was I to do? We never saw him once the last trip and I wasn't about to punish my kids because of this. Oh well, at this point, he'll probably be more mad at me for hiding it than doing it
. We did Winnie very quickly, no line. An adorable ride, especially for Tigger Lovers
. We went and did IASW, took some pics and headed back to the entrance, where they had been waiting for 1/2 an hour
Probably the quickest trip to WL and back anyone ever took.
We headed over to Tomorrowland, got FPs for Space Mountain and rode Buzz, while we were waiting. And now for the 2nd mishap
we still had about 50 minutes till our FP, so DF, DF's oldest and my DD wanted to do Alien. I said I would take the two boys over and let them spin themselves sick on the Teacups and meet them at the exit. Off they went. I asked a CM where it was, and she told me, over in the store next to it. Well that is the small exit. Turns out the main exit was right across from this CM's cart. We waited for over an hour and 20 minutes in that stinkin' store, while DF and the rest waited for me at the other exit
. Right about the time our FPs were about to expire, he and I both started searching frantically around the outside of this store area. We happened to see each other and we both started to yell at each other at the same time
. We got over it pretty quick, because it really wasn't the fault of either one of us. We did SM. and headed over to Peco Bills for lunch. Perfect timing because the skies erupted as soon as we sat down inside. At least something worked out
.
I will now give you a break and come back with part 2 of this day on another thread. Remember, it's still only 12:30
.
Conclusion: CM's don't always know what they are talking about.
