Day 3 at the fort-

We went off property today to Sea World. :ssst: It is my oldest daughter's 13th birthday (OMG I have a teenager ) !! Anyway, we arranged for her to do the marine mammal keeper experience at S.W. She worked behind the scenes with the trainers all day. She got to put on a wet suit and do some hand signals with dolphins, feed fish to the manatees, see a baby polar bear and help out all around. She learned a lot today and reconfirmed her wish to do this for a living when she grows up. It was a rainy cold day unfortunately and not much fun to be outside. The roller coaster and kid rides were closed much of the afternoon. They did get to do flamingo paddles boats and the observation tower. We also saw the Shamu Believe show and had dinner with Shamu where they brought Katie a cake and we sang Happy Birthday.:cake:

We came back wet and cold to our site about 6:30. :umbrella: We took the dog out and played with him for awhile, changed into dry clothes and set off hoping they were still going to do the campfire and movie (fingers crossed). The rain had stopped and we were thrilled to see the campfires lit. We sang some songs and roasted marshmellows. Chip and Dale only stuck around for about 10 minutes, is that normal ?? I was glad we brought along some dry towels to sit on because those benches were pretty wet !!

We stopped at the Meadows trading post to pick up our DDP snacks. The girls each had hot chocolate. My son wanted to get the same cheddar mickeys, and I was going to get a box of donuts, but the CM wouldn't let us. She said they had to be individual servings not the bigger bags. Yesterday they told us any snack item under $4.00. I read on the DDP board that other resorts let you buy the box of donuts and people use them as breakfast. Maybe is just depends on the CM you get ??:confused3

We opted to skip the movie tonight and go see the Electric Light Parade and the Fireworks down at the marina. The ELP was really neat...all 3 kids loved it. :) Then we went over to the beach and watched the fireworks. :) There weren't many people there...probably just because of the weather. It hasn't seem crowded around the campground, yet it is rare to see an empty site.

I think by today a little of the "Magic" had worn off and we began to see this place as an actual campground and not immune to the things we sometimes find at other places. My hubby went into the comfort station this morning for a shower and found someone/something had pooped in one of the stalls  Tonight we noticed quite a few groups of kids on golf cart trying to squeal their tires and do donuts. The ice machine at the comfort station stole my $2, someone had their dog off leash in the pet walk area and it came over and started fighting with my dog who was on a leash. Don't get me wrong...we are having a WONDERFUL time and will come back....just know that it isn't without flaw, that's all. ;)

Well, It is a little after 11 and all three kids are showered and drifting off to sleep. We get to sleep in tomorrow morning and hang out around the fort all day !! :woohoo:

Will it be getting any warmer towards the end of the week ? popcorn:: HeHeHe...I just looked at the picture of your dh with his refillable glass !!!!! LOVED IT !!!!

I guesss it's true, IT does happen!!!! That is just horrible and disgusting. Of all the gross things that could happen to you on your first trip, :scared: !!

BUT, I'm loving your 'on the spot' trip report. Thanks for taking the time to write it. If you're not going to the parks, are you going to take the boat over to the contemporary to take the monorail around the resorts and over to EPCOT?

Hope the weather's getting better for you and you're having a blast and poopy-free day at the fort.

Just in case you were wondering... the weather still stinks back home... still snowing this AM.
:confused3

Yea, unfortunately Disney can't control the people that visit the Fort, as hard as Disney tries to make the magic, individuals can certainly try to ruin it :( It's not the first time I've heard of someone having an "accident" in one of the shower stalls, I just don't get it.

Anyways, sounds like you're having a blast, and yea, looks like it's mid 80's for the rest of this week with afternoon showers, summer has begun at Disney!

I haven't been to Sea World in ages, it's nice to see that everyone had such a great time there!

I'm glad you are enjoying it. It's easy to write while it is fresh in my mind. ;)

We are going to spend today here at the Fort, tomorrow we will be at MK all day from opening until closing (other than a trip back here mid-day for the dog) and then Thursday we are taking the kids over to Cocoa Beach. :beach: Neither they, nor my hubby have ever seen the Atlantic Ocean. We will be coming back here early evening for Mickey's Backyard BBQ and hopefully another campfire sing along (are they the same songs every night ??)

If we are able to come next year, we want to go to Epcot and Animal Kingdom. We like to do a park every other day or so, that way we can relax and enjoy FW too. My hubby doesn't like crowds or many rides, so by taking days "off" it keeps us all happy.:) :)

Shannone it sounds like your doing the right thing by going every other day. I have noticed we don't spend all day at the parks. Usually since we are passholders we go to a park in the morning come back relax and the hit another park that evening. For example when we were there last month we did MK on 3 different days so as not to get burned out. Now that we have a camper it's not go, go, go and we can enjoy it instead of being full speed all day.

I'm glad ya'll are having fun. The trip to Cocoa could be another trip in itself. There are a couple nice campgrounds and one day DD and I are going to do a Kennedy Space tour and camp there. Wish I could plan it when a shuttle leaves at night. BamaEd left the fort when we were there and did KSC and from what he said he enjoyed it. Have fun and keep us posted.

:cheer2: Really enjoying your posts - there usually aren't many trip reports involving life at FW.

Looking forward to your next installment....:rolleyes1
