The quote from our first day was Brooke (6 yrs old) saying
"All we have done is look at stuff, eat and go to the restroom!"
She's right and it was the perfect start to the vacation. Every quote of the day after that should have had "and go to the restroom". What is it about WDW that made her have to GO so much? lol The other quote was "look for the sign, you cant miss it" yeah right.. DH got lost a dozen times and we turned the entrance to WDW into a Nascar track
I know the guy at the gate thought we were NUTS after the third time we missed the exit and had to turn around. We got used to riding in circles and whenever we were looking for something someone in the car would say "just look for the sign" someone else would finish "you cant miss it!" Point: Dont underestimate the size of The World, take a good map, lots of patience and a sense of humor!
DAY 2: Woke up early to get to MK and hit the park when it opened. We ran over to Krispy Creme for donuts to eat on the way - we had reservations at Crystal Palace but were hungry. There was a sign next to KC that said COLD BEER and DS wanted to know why they served beer with donuts in Orlando! I was trying to find a decent radio station and just stopped to laugh.. stopped on Heavy Metal which had the kids screaming in the back seat... then we realized that it was a local Christian Rock station... oh boy... that got the kids going and a new quote for the second day. DS said " You gotta love Disney - Eat Donuts, Drink Beer, and Rock with Jesus" Pretty tacky, but the more DS talked about how people from other countries must think we are crazy the harder we all laughed.
Then we entered the Magic
Wow!! and I could say it over and over. DD jumped up and down and clapped her hands as the ferry arrived at MK. There wasnt a very big crowd at all.. not what we expected. Everything was moving slow and easily in the front gate. As soon as we hit Main street we saw Capt Hook, Mr. Smee, Alladin and the Genie. It was so hard to choose which to see that we ended up running different directions. I waited in line at Alladin and watched the kids with CH and MS. They were great. CH stole DS's autograph book and refused to give it back and MS kept pinching the Tinkerbell on DD's shirt until she giggled. Alladin and the Genie were great too.. Alladin talked to us and asked about our trip... told us to have a Magical day and we were all smiling as we started down main street.
We headed toward fantasyland and got there before they were letting people in. As soon as we got in we saw Pooh, Eeyore and Piglet by the teacups with no line. We stopped .. were surprised at the number of characters we had seen so far. We walked on to Peter Pan, Pooh, Snow White, Dumbo.. no lines at all!! Saw Ariel in the grotto too. The place was practically deserted until we headed over to liberty square at 10:00. Here too the crowd was sparse. We went right on the haunted mansion with no line. Stopped at HOP but the show had just stared so DD went and had her name painted on a Parasol. What a beautiful little southern belle she made!!
From there we went to frontierland and the crowd picked up a bit... it was getting hot too so we broke out the Squeeze Breeze. Whoever on the boards recommended them is a SAINT!! Do not leave home without one! We fastpassed the Splash Mountain and rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Only a 10 minute wait for that.. and went to the country bear jamboree. I thought I would enjoy the show more than I did. The kids liked it and I thought the animatronics were good, but was bored before the show ended. We still had time until our fast pass and the line to BTMR was still short. Kids went to the restroom and stopped to get autographs from Brer Rabbit and Brer Bear.. they were so cute! I went to the smoking area for some nicotine and then it happened... out of nowhere came the prospector hollering "Ma'aaaaam! THIS IS NOT THE SMOKING AREA" Oh gawd I thought! I know it was this place on the map! "I UNDERSTAN THE MAPS AINT THE BEST, BUT IF YA COULD JUST WALK DOWN THE ROAD A BIT..." I was stubbing out my cig as fast as I could and looking for a rock to crawl under.. everyone in the area was staring and he wouldnt quit walking toward me and yelling "NO.. IM NOT YELLIN AT YA... BUT SOMEONE MAY.. DONT HAFTA PUT IT OUT MAAAMMM, JUST WALK A LITTLE FARTHER".... ugh.. he didnt stop and noticed he had embarrassed me so he kept talking and talking....hahaha... I spotted the kids and made a run for it to the BTMRR line... wheww. safe at last until I hear that voice yelling at DS (who was wearing a Hard Rock fishing hat)... "HEY GILLIGAN.. COME HERE A MINUTE, WILL YA!" Then he folded up the front of DS's hat and said.."There ya go... I dressed myself this morning and just wanted to help ya out!" lolol... I didnt attempt to smoke another cigarette at MK that day and DS left his hat turned up
Road BMTRR again, went straight into Splash Mountain.. was great!!! DD loved it and she loved the RR too.. her first experience with anything like a roller coaster and she was hooked!
We didnt make our PS at CP. We were having to much fun riding and knew the crowds would be worse later. We left the park at 1:00 for a rest break at the hotel. Went to Chili's to eat, took a nap and a swim and headed back at 4:30.
Someone opened the flood gates! By the time we got back to MK parking (just look for the sign, you cant miss it.. yep... got lost again) It poured down rain for over an hour.. had to find a bathroom for DD.. surprise surprise.. the car care center has one if you are ever in need.. dont stop at the Chevron.. no bathroom there (and btw.. Animal Kingdom has 13 restrooms! she counted..hehe)
We got back in MK with a little sprinkle at about 5:30 and headed back toward Fantasyland for the teacups. They kicked my butt! wheeww.. I couldnt hold my eyes open I was so dizzy!
DH loved it. Went to Mickey's Toon Town Fair.. the Barnstormer was not operational
Not sure what the prob was, but we toured Mickey and Minnie's houses. Cant wait to see the pics... the houses were so CUTE! I wasnt interested in that part of MK until I got in there and wow.. it WAS magical... like being in a lifesize cartoon! Im glad we did it.
Off to Tomorrowland! DS had waited all day for this part. We did Buzz Lightyear right off.. 15 minute line and then went over to Alien Encounter. Wasnt sure how DD would react and I was nervous about it. I think I scared her to death priming her beforehand so she wouldnt be surprised.. mistake, wont do that again. She did great
I think it scared me more than it did her. I swear I could feel electricity making my hair stand on end, but no one else felt it... was it my imagination??? Maybe it was all that crunching noise and the blood that splatted in my lap?? Fun stuff.. brought back memories when scary movies scared me.
Space mountain was clogged.. no fast pass until 9:30.. ugh.. not for this day. We went on the TTA and enjoyed that. Was relaxing after walking all day. I love it "Paging Tom Morrow"..lol One of the only bad moments on our trip happened while boarding TTA... a lady shoved DD to the side to get past and up to her family in front of us... if I hadnt been in shock from her rudeness and the fact that SHE TOUCHED MY BABY!! I wouldve let her have it. But... Disney kicked in and I let it pass. Im glad.. DD loved the TTA too and it wouldve wrecked the mood.
Stood in line for the Astro orbiter which said a 20 minute wait.. ummm.. they need to fix that time board.. we stood there three times in two trips to MK and never got close to the elevator in 20 minutes. DD had to find a restroom... good excuse to exit the line and head toward Spectromagic.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!! OMG.. too wonderful. I had tears in my eyes the whole time. DD wanted to know who was standing in Cinderella's castle??? anyone know? There appeared to be someone at the very tippy top. What a view... the colors were amazing while waiting for the parade. The crowd was calm and nice.. a lady let DD stand in front of her for a good view. Cinderella... oh to see her in person... wow. Happy happy time for us just watching that parade.
After that we decided it was a good time to go and miss the crowd out of the parking lot. Save the fireworks for later. DH bought DD a balloon on the way out and she was skipping with it.. we are hooked. Im not sure we will ever vacation any place that lives up!
Lessons Learned: Laugh, wait out the rain, laugh, take a nap, laugh, stop and see the characters, laugh, dont rush past the "good stuff"... look your kids in the eye and SEE that smile
Oh yeah... and find the restrooms.. dont make your babies wait and dont make them feel bad about it (actually heard this going on and it disgusted me.. some parents are so rude!)
