2nd Sea Day and it stunk!

We woke up this morning with a Mickey Mouse wakeup call that we had scheduled, and it was fun to see the kids get excited about him calling our rooms.

Our 5 year old was really complaining about his throat hurting but we kind of thought it might be just motion sickness but he didn’t know it so we took him to breakfast to see the characters. He didn’t have a fever, runny nose or any other symptom.

We were in Parrot Cay for our character breakfast and at the very back in the corner at table 38 *think right by where they characters come out of the back door* and started eating. Pretty soon out came all of the characters! What a great time we had with them and getting pictures! I really appreciated that Disney lets you take your own photos as well as them taking theirs because we got some great shots! The people with the characters seemed to vacillate between hurrying them to the next table without a second to spare or letting them take picture after picture.

After breakfast the older kids wanted to go to the pool and see how crowded they were. UGH yet another mob scene at the pools and the wind was OUT OF CONTROL again today. I think they were stronger today than yesterday and the motion was really getting to all of us so we went to the cabin to see if we could catch a movie instead.

We were really disappointed in the movie selection on board as all of the kid’s shows we owned except Home on the Range. They were showing Finding Nemo, Brother Bear and Pirates of the Caribbean all of which we have seen hundreds of times.

The very last place we wanted to be was in our cabins but we couldn’t find anything we really wanted to do. The activities were mostly pool based or at least at the pool deck and some of the other activities inside our 5 year old would have hated so we sat in our cabin for awhile.

DD wanted to go to her club so I took her up and came back to the room. We decided our 9 year old was still pretty motion sick so we went back up on deck to just sit in the sunshine. 5 year old still complaining his throat hurt but still no fever, runny nose or anything else.

We went up on deck again and the wind was so bad that as soon as you would stand up from your chair at the tables they would tip over backwards. The goofy pool was closed off to people and so everyone was stacked in the Mickey pool. It looked like Human Soup in there. We heard a couple of crew officers *don’t know their titles but they are the ones that wear the white outfits* talking about the goofy pool being closed because a boy was smashed into the side of the goofy pool and split his head open. At each end of the pool there were kids sitting and the water in the pool after they refilled it was splashing up and over those kids sitting there it was that rocky and windy.

At 2:30 we decided to go catch Pirates of the Caribbean just to get out of the wind. Went and picked up dd and set off for the show. 5 year old really complaining about throat now but every time I’d give him a lifesaver mint he was fine so I thought he was ok. About ½ way through the show my throat started getting a little raw but nothing major.

DD and I got really cold so we left the show early to go take a hot shower and get ready for dinner. The boys came back after the show and we set off for Parrot Cay. Our tablemates informed us this morning that they had Palo reservations tonight so they wouldn’t be there which was fun for us. Tonight’s dinner was good and our wait staff of Cyprian and Arile was excellent. Cyprian would cut up the kids steaks or chicken for them each night and was very attentive. Simon the head waiter was a riot and I commend him for being so great! He came by every night with a different “magic trick” for the kids. We’ve never had such a great head waiter and we’ve never had one come by each night but usually had them come the last night of the cruise to get their tip so for us this was a great change and kudos to Disney for getting people to really care about the kids.

After dinner we set off to do a little more “shopping” in the stores, and then set off for the show. Tonight was Hercules the Muse-ical and once again (just like in 2002) I never made it through the whole show.

We sat down in our seats and I was waiting for dd to come back with a soda and noticed the family behind us the mother had a full lap of cold and cough medicines. Honestly she looked like a Walgreen’s pharmacy sitting there with Nyquil, Sudafed, Ibuprofen, Benadryl and throat drops. I finally figured out where my 5 year old might have gotten the illness since we saw the kids in the clubs constantly. The kids were coughing the most outrageous croupy cough during the show and I was irritated that they would bring kids that sick to the show and infect everyone around them (and I wasn’t sure about my 5 year old really having that bad of a sore throat so I did take him to places).

About ½ way through I started feeling really crummy with motion sickness and also my throat started to hurt and I was freezing. I left the show with dd who also wasn’t feeling well due to the motion. I barely got in our door when I fell onto the bed sick as a dog, burning up with a fever and the chills along with a raging sore throat and headache.

Hubby and the boys came up and he took care of me while I lay on the bed sobbing that I was just going to buy me a plane ticket in St. Maarten tomorrow and get off that ship because it was the worst vacation ever. I laid there praying for morning to arrive quickly since we would FINALLY be docked and on land.

About 11 pm just as hubby was getting ready to go to bed a HUGE storm rolled in with rain and wind. Thankfully it got it out of its system tonight!
