(Part 2 of our Feb 28-March 5 trip)

Mickey woke us up, a little tired but excited, and we ate a quick breakfast in the room. The weather was beautiful, a clear 85 degree day, so we headed off in shorts and T-shirts and caught the bus to MK. We got in Early Entry about 8 AM (bus was a little late, the earlier one had filled up before it got to our stop) and split up (did this often during our trip since my wife hates roller coasters) - DW & DS to Tomorrowland Speedway and Me and DD to Space Mountain (neither ride had a wait). We then joined up to do Buzz Lightyear 2 times (no wait). We all thought it was a cool ride and really fun. I hit something that gave me about 200,000 points but I have no idea what it was. Everyone else stopped for a little shopping break while I took the Alien ride (10 min wait for the next show to begin). A little scary when you don't know what's coming, but overall not my favorite. We reconvened and found that the new Winnie the Pooh ride had a 25 min wait already so we got a fast past. We all went on Snow White (no wait). We were joking to my daughter about how scared she was last time she went on it (at age 4) - it was one of her few memories of the last WDW trip. We all agreed that the witch was a bit creepy. The Tea Cups were closed, but standing by them were Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum with almost nobody around them. The kids got their autographs but my son decided (and pretty much stuck through it through the end of the trip) that he would get the characters autographs, but would not have his picture taken with them (I guess at a grown up age of 6 he thought it would be too babyish). So we have lots of pictures with my 12 yo daughter with all the characters but very few of my son.

We split up again, with me and DD doing the barnstormer (she thought it was good but over too quickly). We joined and all used our FP for Pooh and loved the ride - the dream sequence with Heffalumps and Woozles was our favorite part. Pan had a 45 min wait at this point so we got a FP for it, and then went to Small World with no wait (Very nice, but I still think it's better at Disneyland). We then got in to the Lion King Show (about a 10 min wait for the next show) which was great! A combination of intricate puppets and live actors - really well done. By this time we used our fast pass to get onto Pan with no wait. So by 11:00 we had gone on 10 rides/shows with a total wait time of only 20 min.

Now time for an early lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. Very calm and restful. While DW checked in at the Tavern, I got two FPs for Splash Mountain and two FPs for Haunted mansion. We then had a fabulous and restful lunch at the tavern (prices quite reasonable for lunch). The people there were very friendly and I was impressed again with Disney's eye for detail - e.g. they made the glass in the windows look more like old glass that you might see in a revolutionary period building, putting in ripples and streaks in the glass panes of the window. The food was delicious, the grilled chicken salad, the grilled vegetables, and the roast turkey and mashed potatoes were all great.

After lunch, the time period for our FPs had just started, so I got 4 more FPs for Haunted Mansion. I and DD went on Splash Mountain while DW and DS went on Haunted Mansion, using first FPs (all no wait), then rejoined to all do Haunted Mansion on FPs again with no wait. I must admit, I felt a little guilty on Splash Mountain as it was the first time I used the FP to go past a 45 minute wait of people standing in line. My daughter just wanted to know why they all weren't using the FPs. At this point (about 2:30) it was clear that MK was getting quite crowded so we walked back to Main Street for a little shoping and the monorail (couldn't get on the front car) over to Epcot. We took autographs/pictures with Pluto near the front gate and then zoomed over to Epcot.

Epcot almost seemed deserted when we got there, so it really created a very peaceful atmosphere in contrast to the increasingly hectic crowd at MK. We went right on to the Energy ride (DS loved the dinosaurs, and I thought the new pre/post show was really good). We went onto the Wonders of Life and watched the Anacomical Players who were VERY funny. A number of people pass them by, but I would strongly recommend seeing them. We watched them last time we were at WDW (clearly different players) but they had been equally as funny. We all went on Body Tours (no wait) and Cranium Command (no wait). The troop was getting a little pooped out so we rested for a while in the Life exhibit and had some frozen yoghurt. After a rest period we headed over to Honey I Shrunk the Audience (no wait) which is fabulous! By far the best 3D movie at WDW (even topping the Muppet 3D which is great). We went on Spaceship Earth again (by this time our son's favorite ride, or at least up there with the best) and took the bus back to CBR (the wait for the bus, about 30 min, was our longest wait of the day). Since we were staying at Trinidad South, we drove to the Port Royale for dinner. For anyone going to CBR, I would probably recommend asking for a closer area than Trinidad South.

We were all too pooped to swim, so we had dinner at CBR (OK, but not great) and went to bed a little earlier than the previous night. This being our first time on-site, we were all amused with the various little washcloth animals that were waiting for us when we arrived back at our room. We all went to sleep a little worn out from a major day of walking and riding, but looking forward to the next day.

More to come...
