Hey everybody. Thanks for sticking it through with my irregular reports. It was a lot of fun to read your comments, and you guys kept me posting just to read your reactions. Alas, this is the final (and most boring) day of our report. Actually, there is nothing to report...but it's nice to wrap things up anyway. Hope you enjoy. Cuz this is it, people.
Up and at em pal! Oh boy, are we glad youre here. Big doings going on, so lets get started. See you real soon ha ha!
This is just plain cruel now. See ya real soon in like 5 years, maybe. Oh well, it is still a pleasant way to wake up, even if I am going home today.
To add to the cruelty, it is a sunny and warm day. The sun's reflection off of the lake hits me in the eyes and blinds me as Im trying to pack my suitcase. I would close the drapes, but that would only add to the gloom. As usual I have trouble getting everything back into the suitcases. Good thing Ive got Dan, Master Packer. He is a genius at putting multiple large objects into very small spaces.
Dan doesnt seem too upset about not making it to Blizzard Beach. Of course, he did mention we have a list of things to hit for next time, didnt he?
FL Tours comes right on time to take us away from Disney World. The ride into the airport is peculiarly smooth and traffic-free. At the airport I learned my lesson from the trip down here I make sure to remove my shoes before going through airport security.
Dan is able to get me first class for the trip back. In the air, I have a window seat and Im sitting on the right side of the plane to see Disney World in the air. The first landmark one tends to look for is Spaceship Earth; there is just no mistaking it. So that was what I was keeping an eye out for. Strangely enough, the first thing I spotted were the Dolphin and Swan Resorts then our very own Contemporary Resort. A few seconds later and there is the all-familiar Spaceship Earth. Ooh look, theres Mission:Space, Universe of Energy, and Space Mountain. Wow, Disney World looks so small from up here. Oh crap, am I going to cry again?
Disney World safely behind us, I turn to my Passporter and jot down notes about our trip. Although I had been recording our trip throughout the week, I wanted to make sure I wrote down everything that wasnt already noted. We land in Detroit about two hours later.
While waiting for our Qwik Park bus to arrive, a man next to us hands Dan a coupon. Can you use this? he asks Dan. because I have an extra one. The coupon is better than the one that Dan left at home the morning of our trip out, and the woman at the Qwik Park cash register takes it without a problem. Now Im thinking, as the car drives away from the parking lot, This morning is running too smoothly something surely will go wrong.
Welcome to I-94. A major tie-up on this expressway keeps us in Park for about a half an hour because all lanes of traffic are being routed off of it for an exit or two. Joy.
Once we pulled into our driveway I was actually relieved. It would be nice to a) not listen to the parade of circus performers above my head, and b) take a real shower in my own bathroom. When we went to the side of the house, however, we noticed that the side door was open. Not just unlocked wide open. And no one was home. Thats what you get when you ask your parents to get the mail for you. I can only hope our jewelry and television are still there.
Not only are our jewelry and television intact, but Mom has brought in all 30 pounds of mail during the week, and has dinner cooking in the crockpot. It was nice to come home to a home-cooked meal, even if it meant potentially sacrificing our personal belongings.
Things I meant to do but somehow couldn't manage to find time for, even if it was a 10-day trip:
Blizzard Beach (aagh! poor Dan), Spectromagic, Pleasure Island, Artist Pointe Restaurant at the Wilderness Lodge, Restaurant Makkaresh in Morocco, Bomas at Animal Kingdom Lodge, dole whips, Biergarten in Germany, and to meet the Monsters Inc guys.
Some pictures from our trip, long before I realized how to post and link to them (thanks bunches, Lancerguys!
):
This is Dan's airlift from Day 1. We were at Chef Mickey's and Goofy was running around the place, picking up the children. My 6'5" husband wanted to be picked up too. And Goofy did just that. I do actually have a picture of Goofy's cardiac arrest, immediately following. But it isn't posted here.
This is my shot with the Living Statue. Well, here is a shot of the Living Statue, anyway.
Finally, this is from the morning of Day 4. The day of Dan's big scene in the Indiana Jones show. Before celebrity status.
Again...thanks to everyone for enjoying my reports and encouraging me to keep writing. It was a blast reading your replies...kept me laughing. And to answer some of you who asked...yes, I am returning to the World in October, but not with Dan. While I fully intend to have mucho fun with my mom and sister (Bratus913), I fear that the comic relief isn't the same as it is with Dan. Then again...my sister is a trip, and put the two of us together...well, who knows what kind of tomfoolery we'll get into? (And I can't wait to try the new Shades of Green!
)
Thanks guys, it was so much fun.
