Up early, we packed a-lot last night so as I finished packing something I took it down to the car. Soon the car was packed and we’re ready to go…(don’t worry I won’t start singing again) We are off to Disney World. Bye St. Augustine one of our most favorite places to be. Here we go from relaxing on the beach, sitting out on the porch and just taking a leisurely stroll on the beach to the hustle and bustle of the Disney parks and the Food and Wine Festival.

After a short 2 hour drive we have arrived in Orlando. Our room is not ready yet and its only 1:00 pm so we went straight to Disney Springs and decided to have lunch at the Paddle Fish.

We were seated at a table in the bar area and were greeted by the bartender who said his name was Captain. I ordered the Lobster roll which was served with house made chips and my wife ordered a burger also served with house made chips. As he went back to the bar and put our order in, a large family party came in and all sat at the bar. Captain greeted them and gave them each menus. I overheard a few of them also order the Lobster roll and when he put their order in the computer he went back to them and told them he just sold the last of the lobster rolls and they were all out. Great luck for me since I was able to score the last one and it was just great. As we were seated I got a text that our room was ready and the room number so we don’t need to stop at the front desk. After lunch we took the short drive to the Boardwalk Resort and were greeted with a “welcome home” at the gate. We entered the 1 bedroom suite with living-room, dining area, full kitchen and one bedroom with a king bed. We walked out on our balcony and we were greeted with a beautiful view directly on the boardwalk (4th floor) beautiful lake view with the boats and the Yacht and Beach-club resorts in the background, not to mention our favorite Space Ship earth. A little disappointed that the door to the balcony is only in the bedroom and not in the living room since I tend to get up early, make coffee and like to sit out on the balcony while my wife is still asleep. Guess I won’t be doing that.

We unpacked and relaxed for a little while since we had reservations at the California Grill at the top of the Contemporary Resort. After a lazy afternoon it was time to get ready for our dinner reservation. Afterwards we will be going over to the Magic Kingdom for the Boo-Bash a Halloween event for a limited number of ticket holders.

We arrived at the California Grill and requested a window seating since the fireworks will be going off soon. Our table was ready and Lynn who was as sweet as pie took us to a table in the middle of the restaurant. My wife asked her if there was anyway we could be seated at the window and she said “let me see what I can do” we walked back to the waiting area and soon Lynn returned and escorted us to a perfect view of the Magic Kingdom table at the window. She was not only the cutest and sweetest lady she also made our night. The California grill for DisneyWorlds 50th anniversary special was serving only a prefixed dinner menu. This is a 3 course dinner which includes a choice of appetizer, choice of main entree, and choice of dessert. All at a price of $89 per person. My wife got the sushi and could not stop saying how it was the best she ever had. I got the crab bisque and it was also very good. Soon the fireworks were getting ready and all food service comes to a halt and they announced that the rooftop porch was open for the firework viewing and that all food service will resume after the firework show. We were lucky our view was so perfect we did not have get up, we just sat at our table while the shows music and narrative was piped into the restaurant and watched the fireworks. After the fireworks was over the service continued. My wife ordered the Cioppino and I ordered the mushroom Ravioli. The ravioli was very, well lets just say if Pee Wee Herman was to eat this dish he would say “mushroomy” and it was a good thing that my wife was so full she gave me half of her dinner, the scallops were the best I ever had, the shrimp was amazing, the fish was so good and on top of the bowl over the broth was this long toasted bread that was largely covered, and I mean covered, with crabmeat. OMG sopping up the broth with this crab covered bread was, well if I had to eat this for the rest of my life it would be an honor. Well now the both of us were so full. Or desserts arrived and we just picked at them. My wife ordered the soufflé and I ordered the chocolate cake. Both were great but we were stuffed. While the bill was a bit pricy when you add in the drinks I have to say it was worth it.

Now it’s was time to head over to the Magic Kingdom for the Boo Bash.

After the fireworks are over all the park goers have to exit the park and only the limited guests with tickets were allowed to stay. You receive a wrist band that says you are a guest of the Boo Bash. But before we enjoy all the rides that you can just walk right on since the park is not busy at all. We needed to stop at guest services and renew our yearly passes since ours have expired and we will not be able to enter the parks on this trip without renewing them. As soon as you walk into the park on the left is guest services. This usually takes about 5 minutes once you get helped by a cast member and there was no line so my wife went in and was helped right a way. Since there were parades going on. I gave them my ID and waited outside. The girl waiting on my wife was new and still in training and had to go back to the manager with each stroke of the key and ask questions. Instead of the manager coming over and helping she had to go to him every step of the way. Half hour goes by and still not done. My wife goes to the door and lets me know she is till at this. After showing all the required proofs needed at least 5 times and a manager who just wants to give my wife a hard time the whole hour, Yes still at this after one hour, with his insinuations and accusations. The girl hands my wife her renewed pass and says she needs to see me. My wife calls me in and the new girl and the manager say they can not prove that I reside in the same property as my wife. We explain that we are married and own a property here in Florida, which we have proven but almost everything is in her name here. We also own a property in Nevada and that is all in my name. However we do have some bills that show each address with each of our names on them. Well the manager accuse us of not living together, my wife and l look at each other and think this is the most bizarre interrogation we have ever had anywhere. My wife tells the new girl and the manager that we are married and they say Well we don’t know that. I said we have the same last name, the manager says smugly that he and his mother have the same last name. I am at this time shaking my head in disbelief, so they think we are just brother and sister, well even if we were if we lived in the same Florida house hold that is not a problem however my wife and I are 2 months apart in age… so that should debunk your theory of brother and sister. The manager totally and rudely refuses to renew my pass and now its almost an hour and one half later and we have missed the best parts of the party. The manger asked if we wanted a refund for the party and I said yes. My wife also had one question and she asked if her pass was renewed for one year from this date and the girl said yes and the manager also said yes. Guess what again the worst ever service and was also lied to, they had her pass expire March 2022. We left the park stunned with the horrible treatment we received. I have to say I am in the hospitality business and if I treated a guest like that I would be fired. What broke my heart was how upset my wife was about the hole situation. She was looking forward to the boo bash for weeks and they just ruined everything. We did think about packing our stuff and leaving but thought that tomorrow morning we will head over to the guest relations at the world showcase entrance and see about getting my pass renewed.

We have been coming to the parks since the early 1980’s and have become DVC members since the 90’s and never in all that time have we ever experienced anything remotely close to this treatment by a cast member and the sad thing is this was a new cast member being trained by a manager who feels like its okay to make the comments he was making to a guest. Well we will see what happens tomorrow.

To be continued…
