Well, I figured I would try and keep up with a trip report, as we will be spending 11 nights here at WDW. The first 5 are at VWL, and the remaining 6 will be at BWV. It is our first time at both. Traveling with me is DW, DD (14 months), and for the first five nights, DW's best friend and husband (who just got married in June).

After getting up at 2:45 AM, we left for the airport around 3:30 AM. Flight was on time and no problems at all (Philly -> MCO). Took magical express to VWL, where we are staying in the villas and our friends are staying in the "regular" part. Rooms were READY at 10:00, which was awesome. So, we got settled (luggage was still on its way via the "magic") and headed out to the Magic Kingdom, via the Boat. Now, after staying at BLT our last trip (which is our Home), we definitely missed being able to just walk to the park. But, anyway, we got to the MK, and took the monorail right to the Contemporary to have lunch at the Contempo Cafe. Everyone enjoyed it (mahi-mahi sandwich, lime chicken sandwich, cookies). Took the monorail over to the MK, and spent time there until the 3:00 parade. After the parade, we headed back to the hotel (our friends stayed to go commando), and went to the pool, which was very nice. Had dinner at Whispering Canyon, and by now, we are all exhausted. Friends decided to go back AGAIN, but we are done for the night.

Initial impressions of the WL are it is very nice, but it is not BLT. Our room is ALL the way at the end of the hall, which is a long walk, but not really a big deal. Looking forward to a good night's sleep, and then deciding where to start the day tomorrow. Dinner is at Chef Mickey's tomorrow night. Please feel free to share you comments. This is my first crack at this :cool1:

Sounds like fun! We leave in 8 days for a split stay at BCV/BLT. We stayed at VWL last year and did enjoy it (but not as much as BLT).

We LOVE the Contempo Cafe too! I can't wait to read more.

You mentioned taking the boat to MK and then hopping the monorail to the CR to eat. Did you know that there is a boat that goes from VWL to the CR along with FW? In the AM, it goes VWL, CR and FW. In the afternoon, it switches and does VWL, FW, and then CR. We did that last summer just to enjoy a boat ride (started at CR and rode the whole loop, never getting off!) it was a relaxing way to spend 20 minutes at night!

Look forward to hearing more!!

Hi BLTSam,
Thanks for the live trip report! It sounds like you are having a good time. I own at WL and love it. I stayed at BLT in December and while it is a great resort it is not home. It sounds like it is just the opposite for you.

That is one of the great things about DVC, you can find the resort you love while trying all of the others out. Looking forward to reading more.Have a great time. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear more!! I just LOVE live trip reports.

We own at BCV and BLT but I have to say that we have stayed at VWL more then any other DVC.

Another quick way to get to MK from the WL is to take the bus, believe it or not, especially from the villas since they are much closer to the bus stop then the boat dock.

Now, it certainly doesn't have the charm of the boat but it can often be quicker. It is a dedicated bus and only goes from WL to MK and back again. About a 6 minute trip, door to door.

Add me to the list of waiting to hear more. I know how you feel about BLT. We own at AKV and BLT and have stayed at all the DVC's but BCV and BWV. We really liked WLV and AKV but BLT felt like home. The walk to MK is the most spoiled I have ever felt at WDW and wish now all our pts were at BLT. Even DS who initially wanted AKV as AK is his favorite park had to admit he loves BLT for the convience.
