Just got to WDW today (w/ mom)-here's a TR, of sorts....
**At the tail end of the 13.5 hour car trek (trouble-free and quick) stopped at the Ocala center and bought APs. Asked for AAA discount, very helpful and nice CM called a supervisor and apparently it's for FL residents only..?
**Checked in at Dix...uh, PO Riverside, and had quick painless checkin. At about 12:30 pm on Monday the line was very short. Very helpful and kind CM here too. Cheerfully granted requests for Alligator Bayou, 1st floor, smoking (alas I am one of the heathens), and the room was ready. Ate serviceable personal pizza at the food court--wish they still did it by the slice, it just tasted better. Sauce seemed a little bland in comparison to past--decent and hot though. Food court not too crowded at all.
**Got to Epcot around 3, and found Spaceship Earth walkon--rare "first ride of trip" status for the old warhorse. Cmon, there has to be some kind of technology that could smooth out the ride system. Only one brief interruption this trip. Would also like to see some animatronics updated and maybe a new narration. Still fun for we epic animatronic ride fans.
**On that note, As much as I loved World of Motion I find Test Track always surprises me with how much I enjoy it on repeat visits. Standby line was short (looked like maybe 15 min), but got an FP anyway for 90 minutes later and did Mexico and Maelstrom (5 min wait) came back to absolute walk on from the FP line. I really wish Maelstrom was longer...it would have been great with more drops and more tableaux.
**Hit Ice Station Cool...love the Apple stuff. It's funny watching people stand around doing shots of soft drinks.
**Deigned to ride JIYI...found myself enjoying it slightly this time, in a Plan 9 sort of way. I did like the darkness/sound sequence, but this one really is bad...made doubly so by what they ripped out so they could slap together this thing. Upside down room, indeed.
**As always the flower festival adds some nice color to the park. A lot of topiaries of characters from the animated films.
**Interesting new collectible I'll never buy...Set of 38 trading card replicas of the original one-sheet posters for the animated movies. 30 bucks a bit steep, "limited" or not.
**Went over to the Land food court and had a good-as-always bacon and cheese potato and coke for a mere 6 bucks or so. Mom had a good chicken caesar salad.
Opted not to do any attractions here and headed back to room, having been up way too long.
Haven't taken any buses and likely won't--we drive the car everywhere, so I can't speak to the bus horror stories about PO Riverside. Overall it appears that crowds are pretty light. Did a lot at Epcot in only about 4 hours.
Will write more as the mood strikes.
