Our first day was Saturday October 4. We checked into the Swan and then went to DTD...DH and DS3 had never been there and I wanted to get a Pal Mickey, so off we went.
First stop was the Disney Christmas store, Days of Christmas. I had called them the week prior to our trip to order Guest of Honor badges for my 2 kids...the CM had told me they would have them shipped to the Swan, but the badges weren't there at check-in. Well the store didn't have them either...the nice CM checked on it for me and she said when they ship purchases to the resorts, they actually ship to the gift shop there, not the front desk! (When we got back to the Swan later that evening, I picked up the badges with my kids' names on them at the gift shop...DD8 loved hers and wore it every day and it was really neat, I think I want to get myself one next time we go! DS3 didn't like his however, so his stayed in my purse all week!)
After checking at the Christmas store for the badges, we went to Once Upon a Toy to get a friend her potato head parts she wanted...I had read about other people doing this, but had not done it myself. You get a potato head and can stuff the head with ears, hats, eyes, noses, whatever, and then put the head in the box and stuff the areas of the box around the head with other small parts like a camcorder, a Disney autograph book, etc. I stuffed it as full as I could (box and head and whatever parts fit costs $16) and then bought a Pal Mickey for myself and we were off. The potato head was a big hit with my DS3 and he begged all that night to play with it, but I wouldn't let him!
Then we went to World of Disney and bought DD8 some Jasmine shoes for the next night's Halloween party, plus a hook for DS3 who loves pirate stuff. I got my 10% discount at World of Disney with my Disney Club membership (set to expire 12/03, sniff sniff!). Afterwards, the kids wanted to ride the mini carousel, so we coughed up $4 for that (it's so funny to me to pay hundreds of dollars for park hoppers for your whole family, to enable them to ride every single ride in Disney World as many times as they want, but then have to pay separately for the kids to ride the tiny carousel in DTD!). We then headed back to our hotel area and ate dinner at Beaches and Cream. It was excellent, DH and I ordered the prime rib sandwiches. The place was PACKED and a couple families ordered the kitchen sink while we were there, which amazed me, I don't see how a family of SIX could eat that whole thing. Beaches and Cream seems to be a very popular place to eat, my only request would be to make it bigger, if I moved an inch, I hit the person sitting behind me! We were all in very close quarters. We all got sweets to go, DH got a milkshake and DS3 got a cookie and DD8 got a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream, I got a mango smoothie which was yummy. Food was very good and service was quick and professional, so I would definitely eat there again.
Next day: MNSSHP!!
