Hi all - first post so hope I'm doing it right!

A few friends and I have booked a holiday to DLP in the middle of Dec, and we've booked to stay at the DCR as it was the cheapest on offer at the time. However we've since learnt that you can't get any transport provided by Disney back and forth between DCR and the park.

We were wondering if anyone had had any experience of using taxis/buses to get from one to the other and back again because I can't find the information we need on the website, it keeps sending me round in circles!

Wait to hear!

Niki

Hi Niki and welcome to the boards :goodvibes

There are no buses that go to DCR I'm afraid it really is a site for people with cars

Taxis can be found at the RER station at DLP but I have no idea of the frequency or their rates.

I don't know how many you are but a normal taxi will only take 3 people, could take 4 but don't like people sitting up front for example.

You could also have a pb getting one to come to the DCR and there would be a call out charge already on the meter

I'd look at hiring a car if I was you or trying to change your hotel :)

How much more is it to upgrade to Santa fe as its quiet a drive from Davy Crockett to DLP if you have two taxi trips a day it might just be cheaper to upgrade.

It's a 7min journey from dcr to parcs so not far at all but all depends how much taxis are I suppose

Is that all it is ? Disney say it's double that :confused3

Taxis charge per km and in the Seine et Marne it's 1.5€ between 7.00-20.00 (Mon-Sat) and 2,1€ between 20.00-7.00 (Mon-Sat and all day Sun/public holidays) plus you've got 2.2€ on the meter for a taxi waiting on the stand say at the station and a undefined call out charge depending on where he is coming from :goodvibes

I have no idea where DCR is :confused3
Just wondering is it within walking distance of either SF or the associated hotels, so that OP's group could walk to one of those and get a shuttle from there ?

It's about 8km from the SQL looking at the GPS coordinates. It's in a totally different postcode from the rest of DLP and you come off the A4 at junction 13 instead of junction 14 like the rest.

You couldn't walk it unless you went cross fields and the A4 etc :)

No, it would not be a safe walk at any rate and possibly not even permitted as you have to come off the auto route at a different junction so presumably some of the walk would be along that. Even the walk from where the barrier is at the entrance to the DCL to the main buildings there is considerable.

I imagine the OP's problem is that there are more than four in the party and hence they would need more than one room at on-site hotels. Don't know how much the cancellation fee would be but if hiring a car is out of the question then changing to a cheaper option in Val d'Europe might be better. Accommodation for up to six people there, often self-catering, is usually far cheaper than the DCR. Worth looking into if cancellation charges are lower than multiple taxi rides.

Hi all!
Thanks for all your help/advice.
I spoke to someone at Disney and they said we could upgrade to the Santa Fe for an extra £176.92 which means about £40 extra each. We decided this would be alright but then one of my friends said she was happy to drive and that we'd have a drinky in the evening when we're back at the lodge rather than in Disney!
Thanks though guys - am planning a trip for me and the fella and his little one in Jan and have learnt not to book the DCR!

It's the best solution :thumbsup2 If you are coming into CDG you have lots of hire car companies that you can reserve with. If you are coming by Eurostar you have Hertz in the station :)

Glad your friend will drive check out the pool if you have time we love it there x

Great! You'll love dcr! Yes it's def 7minutes! We timed it! Leaving dcr gate to Disney gate :) so easy that's why we love it and now that we're a family of 5 :) think it will stay a favourite! Enjoy! There's a bar at dcr if you're looking for a wee drink after the parks :) also top tip is don't pay for breakfast just pop to the shop in the morning an you get fresh bread/croissants for a few euros :)

does DCR have golf cart rentals to get around the resort grounds like Fort Wilderness in FL does?

I think they may have done years ago, but not any more.

They definitely used to have pedal cars, but haven't seen those for a few years either.

TBH though, you're never too far from the shopping/pool complex, and if you do take your car up from the cabin, there is plenty of parking.

In recent years they've improved the pathways which are all off-road now, and well lit at night :thumbsup2
