DavIfer 10.6.12* at home Disney Magical wedding

That's what I did. I just showed everyone my dress online, but there isn't one person coming to the wedding that has actually seen it on me :-) including my nosy fiancé :rotfl:

I'm kind of worried about facing the same situation. We haven't even told DFs mom where we're getting married, let a lone that I already picked out my dress. She has two sons and a step-son, so she likes to act like I'm her daughter (drama and all sometimes).

I do agree with you mom, though. You're not *her* daughter. She might be upset for a little bit (maybe even years), but it's her obstacle to deal with. You had to go when the store was open, and finding a dress is too exciting to remember all the little things--like calling random people who aren't on the top of your mind.

I like your idea of keeping the dress a secret. I 'attempted' to do that, but the excitement was just too much. :goodvibes Although, several of my friends have seen pictures of me in the dress, only my MOH, parents, and grandma have seen it on me in person. The rest will get to see when we do pictures.

I wouldn't worry about it too much! At least your FMIL wants to see the dress and participate! I am having the opposite reaction! :confused3

BUT, she has to remember, you weren't even planning on buying a dress, let alone trying on dresses! And you just happened to find the right one, so you followed your heart and got it! She should be happy about it!!

I like the idea of only letting a select few see the dress as well- I think it adds more to the wow-factor of the dress. I couldn't see the harm in maybe showing her a picture of the dress from like the website? But not on you.

That's what I did. I just showed everyone my dress online, but there isn't one person coming to the wedding that has actually seen it on me :-) including my nosy fiancé :rotfl:

Thanks girls! :goodvibes I swear you help keep me sane. haha. I mean I love the woman to death, but I knew there was no way in hell she was even going to come out in that weather anyways.

She'll just have to get over & deal with it. I was planning on taking her & then Dave's sister to try on dresses sometime this week so I figured I could just show them the dress on the hanger. But I don't want to try it on. It's part of the whole WOW factor. I don't mind input on anything else, but it's my dress. Oh well..

I'm off to go to the spa now! ha. First time EVER. :woohoo: Gotta love Christmas gifts from the DF. hehe. He's so good to me! I can't wait to be pampered.. but then I get to go to his house & see his mom :scared1:. Wish me luck! haha.
:grouphug:

So, went to my fiance's house on Friday and like I had said.. I was a smidgen bit worried cause of the whole dress situation and such. But when I got there and actually talked to her.. she said she was a bit upset but then she realized that I was out in the SNOW STORM! She told me I was a nut! hah. ( Dur! ) And she wouldn't of come anyway. :rotfl: But she was happy for me and all all that. :goodvibes

The next day I sent her pictures from the designers website to show her my dress and she sent me back the sweetest email! Just reading what she said, I really canNOT wait until I get to walk down that aisle and Dave get's to see me in the gown.. Gunna be a moment I remember for the rest of my life! :cloud9:

On the other hand..
I've been having a bit of issues with the whole asking of the other 3 bridesmaid thing. My one friend, Jackie, I really want to ask.. but she's been so all over the place lately that I'm so scared that she won't show up or something for the wedding or the dress fittings or something! My dad said she may be a ditz, but feels like with the wedding and such if I were to ask her she would definitely be there. :confused3 I'm so lost.
I decided though, that I AM going to have a flower girl and 2 ring bearers. I'm going to ask my flower girl on Sunday at the Super Bowl party my cousin is having.. then probably ask the ring bearers on Friday? But now.. I need to find a cute little trinket to ask them with? I can't do the Vinyls because I feel like they won't appreciate them that much? So back to thinking..
We'll see.

Anyone else in New Jersey SICK of all this stupid snow!?! :scared1: It makes me so damned angry! I hate it. I just want it to clear up and get the hell out of here. I need me some summertime! I'm supposed to go to Alfred Angelo tomorrow, again, try on some rehearsal dresses and look at headpieces! Yay! ;D I love me some sparkles. My MOH is coming to so she can look at the bridesmaid dresses. It kinda sucks how you HAVE to have an appt with them in order to try on dresses? Kinda weird if you ask me. I understand it with the bridal gowns, but why with the bridesmaids?

Oh well.. we'll see.. ha. Anybody have any gift ideas for the RB or the FG?

First of all, I know the bridesmaid stuff is a hard decision. I myself was having trouble deciding whether or not I should ask a friend who's been a bit flaky. I did end up asking her though, so we'll see how things work out!

We are also having two ring bearers! I have 5 year old twin cousins. Unfortunately, no flower girl - there's just no young girls in the family! Every time I see a cute little girl I wish I had a flower girl. They should rent them out! :cutie: But the boys were so excited. They said they were going to be "ring bears," and then we explained that they would have to carry a pillow with a ring on it. Their response? "Can I use my Christmas pillow? Or my pirate pillow?" :rotfl2:

But as for gifts, I would just say give them something that they will appreciate. Which is probably a toy of some sort. I've seen picture frames and whatever and they're cute, but 5 year olds won't really care. Someone had posted in a thread these cute little Toy Story boxes they found at Wegman's - maybe get some sort of box and put a few fun things inside?

And I am SO sick of the snow... and ice... and whatever else is coming :headache:

So we finally set a date for our engagement party.. July 9, 2011. Woo! =] It was a battle I fought.. but won with my father backing me up for once! Goooo me! hah. My mother was giving the whole 'it isn't always all about you Jenifer' & I answer with 'no it's me & Dave!' & my dad chimes in 'actually for once it IS all about HER.' Ha! I win!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

So I was playing around with paint earlier & I came up with this.. Tell me what you think! I always tell my DF that I love him to infinity & beyond, so I thought this would kinda be cute. Than we can decorate it all galactic like in my backyard! With LGM's EVERYWHERE. I would print them out & mount them on lime green paper with purple envelopes! :yay:

cute! you shoudl find some art that uses Jessie AND Buzz...they were quite an item in Toy Story 3...LOL!

Haha, yeah. The little guys I babysit are who I'm asking so I figured I'll get them some cool little trinket!
So it doesn't look like it snowed much? But definitely looks like a slushy mess! Blah!

Thanks! =] That's a good idea.. I'll have to try and find some. I was thinking of using them as a cake topper for the cake we have at the party! :woohoo:

So how out of it am I?? I completely forgot to tell you guys the news! Ha. We booked our photographer this past weekend! We went with the first photographer that we had seen. Nobody compared after her, everytime we would leave a meeting with someone we'd just come back to Susan. Her personality is awesome and we just mesh so well. I am POSITIVE we are going to have some really, really amazing photographs from our wedding. :thumbsup2 Now, we gotta start planning our engagement shoot! I definitely wanna take some pictures on DF's Harley. It was our first date! :lovestruc So I thought it would be super cute to wear some super flirty dress, sick heels or boots, & a leather jacket when we take some pictures with it! Just have to find a dress? A location? & a 2nd outfit? :surfweb: Here comes the madness! haha.

Also, this past weekend we put a down payment on our wedding bands! I know, it's a bit early to even be thinking about this stuff. But we figured we'd lock in the price before the gold and diamond prices went up! Mwahaha. My DF is a smart man. :teacher: I can't wait to get our bands in! DF picked out a jaw dropper of a ring! First off, original price? $2800, what did we pay? We got all 3 of our bands for less than that! :yay: I got 2 smaller channel set bands with matching diamond baguettes of course. OMG, I can't wait to see the 3 all together! It's seriously going to be breathtaking! And sparkley duh! :wizard:

Back to the whole, Alfred Angelo drama, ha. I rescheduled due to the weather on Wednesday. I originally tried to schedule myself an appointment along with my Maid of Honor and the store manager at the time totally shut me out of that idea. Wah. I then decided to email the one woman I had gotten in contact with thru Twitter from Alfred Angelo and let her know about my experience. I had been really, really turned off by it. I didn't wanna go back to Alfred at all! The bridesmaid dresses I've been looking at are AA, so are the flower girls and so are the reception dresses I've been eyeing up. I schedule a follow up appointment so we'll see as to what happens? IDK. heh. :confused3

I also decided that on top of my 6 bridesmaids I'm going to ask my 2 older little cousins to be helpers at the wedding. I figured that they can help get stuff together for the ceremony, show people here to go, hand out programs, and give our bubbles or whatever I decide. I think I'm going to pick out cute little dresses for them in one of my accent colors for the wedding. Prob the Key Lime and the Eggplant color. Which I think would be kinda cute?

I've also begun the job hunt again.. nanny salary just isn't cutting it. I've turned in about 10 teaching applications so far? Let's hope I at least get one call back. I could really use a real, steady job. Even though I'm not sure how I feel about the teaching profession anymore? I know it's good income. And I know, it's going ot kill me when I have to leave the little monsters I babysit. :sad2: It's rough. I hate the job market. ha.

I also have to figure out some Valentine gifts for DF. He already bought me the necklace and now I know he has something else up his sleeve! Damn him! (yet inside this is how I feel :woohoo:) Tehe. But now I have to come up with something good? Wah.

And who can forget the mass chaos ebay bidding war I've had with a few of my fellow disboarders over FREE just married buttons that Disney for some reason has decided to get rid of! Haha, definitely a funny coincidence. But I'm happy I 'lost' to them! :grouphug: Yay for the FAV 5!

That's all I have for now! But I will be SURE to update you with some pictures of that bling once I get them! :wizard: :wizard:

Aww, that is perfect little icon for our group! :grouphug:

Good luck with AA, hopefully you will have a better experience! Are you still considering a Disney dress? I love them, they certainly are beautiful. But if not, maybe you could try David's Bridal as well? I know people are tough on them sometimes but I've had nothing but good experiences there so far, and I've been four times, to three different store locations!

Good luck with the job hunt. I'm feeling the same way as you, really. I'm substitute teaching, and I really hate how unstable the job is. I don't have any sort of consistent income. But I purposely didn't want to take a full time teaching job because I'm in grad school full time and I think that would just be WAY too much. I'm planning to move after DF and I get married so I'll be looking for a new job then anyway, hopefully I will find something a bit more steady but not quite so demanding.

We are going to meet a photographer next weekend. This will be our first time meeting with one. Do you have any advice? What sort of questions do you ask, and what do you look for? The only other contact we had with one, he sent us to his facebook to look at his pics and we really weren't a fan of his style :confused3 But I've seen this woman's work on her website and so far I like what I see! Fab 5 sandwich with Mr. Creepo :grouphug::dancer::grouphug: You are missing some flair as well missy! Hey I am sorry to hear about your experience with AA hopefully this next appointment will be better:thumbsup2 Congratz on finding your photographer!! That's always a good feeling, we found ours on the first try to and through facebook I might add, lol. I love the colors you are thinking for the dresses, we are actually using eggplant and black for my bridesmaids dress from AA :) You just totally brought me back to reality with that fact that those dang buttons are free!!! I paid $13 with tax for 2 I must be on some kind of drug, the ebay drug blend 2011! It was a good year for that one :lmao: Good luck on the job hunt!!!

But let me know if you have any good tips for the meeting!

I bought book about wedding planning and from it I got a good bunch of questions that we asked our photographer, here are some of them:

How much does he/she charge for extra hours or overtime?

How soon after the wedding will the proofs be ready?

Is he/she insured?

If he/she falls ill that day does he have an assistant to take his/her place?

How long are images posted online?

Do I receive the rights to images to reproduce on my own with said package?

Is he or she willing to follow a shot list or do they only do freelance?

Are quoted rates locked after consultation or do they go up until contract is signed?

What is the deposit?

When is the final balance due?

How many weddings to you book per day?

What is the cancellation policy?

Do you have references from other couples?

How many shots do you take in the day?

Is an engagement session included?

Another good thing is to make sure they give you access to a complete book of images of their work, photographers tend to only bring their best work to the consultation, don't be fooled by this. Ask them if you can see another couples complete work. My photographer was really cool about this he actually gave me the access code to a wedding he had just shot over the weekend so I could see the whole thing, good and bad. Hope this helps :)

Yay!!!

LOL that should be our Logo!

:woohoo: Congrats on your rings and photographer girly!! :yay: I want to see this bling! :cool2: Are the prices going to work with that photographer?

I actually knew my photographer from HS and college- we weren't close friends but we knew *of* each other- she was a year older- and we knew her through my parents and her parents. Haha... no discount though! :sad2:

She has a nice website- and I went to her studio in Charleston and went through a lot of her pics, she has several awards through theknot and other bridal chains, and she already knows our venue very well and is actually one of the recommended vendors. She is a little pricey- but her work is beautiful- and I managed to customize exactly what I wanted from her. And be sure to make sure you can get a DVD or the rights to your photos!!

Haha, yes I thought it was a perfect little icon! :grouphug: I hear what you're saying about substituting, that's kinda the main reason why I'm not doing any substituting. I neeeeed the money. Car payments, insurance, etc. I need to be making a steady amount a month. Otherwise we're going to have issues!
DF and I are definitely looking to stay in both of our general areas so it doesn't hurt to start looking now. Even though I am trying to push him towards the shore! ha. pirate:
Well I have my dress already, but from AA I definitely wanna get my bridesmaids I think and my rehearsal dress. I was even thinking of getting a dress similar to mine for a trash the dress session if it's a cheap enough. :rolleyes1 So I don't have to ruin my little gem. Plus I wanna get the flower girl from there too. ha. So we'll see! I want everything to look super elegant!

As far as the photographer goes the questions Bickimook2 posted are perfect to consider. But one thing I was definitely concerned about is a 'rain date'. My ceremony is on the beach and I want to make sure that I get pictures ON the beach. So I always asked IF we needed to get dressed up again, would we be able to. Almost all of the photographers were fine with it and said that it's actually a really good idea. :woohoo: But hopefully we won't need to consider that! Our main concern was the photographers personality, you're going to be with them alll day so you gotta make sure you like them! :goodvibes I don't think there's anything else that I can think of? hehe. If I do I'll let you know!

Well we're going with our first photographer that we met, if that counts? :confused3 haha. ;D But yeah I LOVE our colors. I can't wait to see how it all comes together. What dress are you using?
I know! Those dammmmned buttons! People are smart for selling them cause people like us are crazy and would pay for them. hehe. :rolleyes1

:sad2:

She has a nice website- and I went to her studio in Charleston and went through a lot of her pics, she has several awards through theknot and other bridal chains, and she already knows our venue very well and is actually one of the recommended vendors. She is a little pricey- but her work is beautiful- and I managed to customize exactly what I wanted from her. And be sure to make sure you can get a DVD or the rights to your photos!![/QUOTE}

Yeah, we totally customized our entire package. Our photographer loves us too, so I think we may end up with a new friend out of it too! :yay:
But you know daaamn well that I will be posting those blingin' rings as soon as I have them in my hands! I think I have one of his on my phone? But none of mine.

So it's SuperBowl Sunday and before we head out for the festivities.. I'm going to do a smidge of an update.. ha.

I've been on a bit of a shoe hunt! Ha. I've found a few different shoes that I LOVE. But I'm trying to keep the heel a little low due to the fact that I DON'T want to be taller than Dave on our big day. hehe. Or as tall as. I like it when the girl looks shorter than the guy in pictures. So here are a few of my options.. I'm gaming towards dyeable shoes.. cause once we pick out the girls dresses, I'm dying them to match! :lovestruc

Anddd... finally.. I'm asking my flower girl today but I've already found her dress! I LOVE it. It's so prescious. She'll probably have a little Mickey crystal headband that I may make myself and then her hair will be half up half down and curled.

Also, does anybody know where I can find some really cute Buzz & Jessie graphics?? I wanna use them for my engagement party invites!

I love the tiara! and your flower girl dress is so cute. I think my favorite pair of shoes are the ones with the blue ribbon they remind me of Cinderella :)

I LOVE the shoes with the blue. Colors with white dresses are AMAZING to me! And the flower girl dress is adorable! And I like the tiara!

Hey Jenifer here are the directions for those centerpieces that I made:

For One Centerpiece You Need:

1 - 2" Styrofoam Ball

2 - 3 Bunches of your Favorite Flower or a Mixture of Flowers from Hobby Lobby or another craft store

1 Package of Emblishments for bouquets (I used purple flower rhinestones from Michael's you can find them in the bridal aisle)

1 Hot Glue Gun (Low or High Heat)

Glue sticks

Wire Cutters you can use to cut the stems

Glass Jar of your choosing

Gel Balls from Joann Fabrics (They come dehydrated or hydrated, they are down the aisle with glass balls used for flower arrangements)

Bright Spots Submersible Lights from Joann Fabrics

Instructions

Take your flowers and cut them with the wire cutters to about 2 inches long. You need to start by making an equator line around your ball with the flowers. You put hot glue on your flowers and stick them into the foam. Add more hot glue around the edge to secure your flower to the ball. Keep doing this with your flowers until you have completely covered half of the ball with the arrangement that you want. (The bottom half of the ball will be hidden once you put it on your glass jar.) Add the embellishments by hot gluing them were you want them to the flowers themselves. Your flower ball should now be completed.

Hydrate the gel balls. Once hydrated add them to the glass jar. Turn on your Bright Spots light and put it light part down into the top of the gel balls. Don't place it down to far just enough for the light to be hidden.

Place the flower arrangement on top of your jar and your centerpiece is done! :cool1:

You can also add ribbon around the jar to dress it up or a rhinestone buckle and place it on a round mirror from a craft store. :thumbsup2
