Can I jump in here and ask what may be a silly question? If the regular WDW website for cash reservations shows availability for a particular room type, ie. a 2BR Beach Club Villas on a particular date, does that mean it would also be available to a DVC member if I wanted to rent it through Davids or are there separate allocations for DVC and reservations directly through Disney?

If you are not a member with access to inventory on the member website, you won't know what is or is not available.

The inventory you see on the Disney Reservation Center site is inventory that has been traded by members for non-DVC Disney stays. So if a member wants to take a cruise on the DCL, they turn over their points to DVC to trade for a cruise. DVC turns over the inventory that represents those points to DRC to sell so they can pay for the trip. Once it has been traded out, that cannot be used for another points stay because it is currently being used for a points stay (at another non-DVC location).
