Has anyone here done it? Know anything about it?

I have read just one of Ramsey's books, and have heard his radio show only a few times. I have yet to see his TV show.
My church is offering FPU. I must say that after previewing the material, Ramsey's FPU sounds like a very good curriculum.
I was curious about others who may have had first hand experience with it. :)

I haven't done the class, but I've read his book Total Money Makeover. Excellent advice, really it's the best (and fastest) way to get out of debt. DH and I don't follow his advice to the letter, but what we have done has really helped get us back on track.

You should ask this on the Budget Board, there are a lot of Dave Ramsey followers there, and I know a few have taken the class.

Thanks! In all my years as a DISer I've never visited the Budget Board. It sounds like a visit may be in order. :goodvibes

In short, DW and I are already debt free (except for two ridiculously tiny car loans) but are certainly open to principles that will help us make wiser and more faithful decisions with our money.

FPU has totally changed the way I look at money and "stuff". Dave is an excellent teacher. The classes are very entertaining and give you so much information to carry with you. Since FPU, we have changed the way we spend the money that God has entrusted to us. Worth every penny that I spent to take the class.

I really like Dave Ramsey. I do not know him but he is from down the street from where I live! I have his book and my church is offering the class right now. The people I know who have done the class have done quite well with it. It is really just common sense stuff but obviously, we forget a lot of common sense when it comes to money andccs etc.

My wife is a big Ramsey fan. She has read the books et al and applies it to our household budget with rigid, teutonic strictness.

Me? I try to cheat the system...........

Pay off my truck......or surprise the family with a WDW trip........

Hmmmmm..........

(don't tell Dave...shhhhhh)

I like his message and his method, but I don't agree with him that you shouldn't care about your FICO. I don't agree that you should wreck your credit in the process of getting out of debt.

Dave doesn't need credit, but most of the rest of us do. Why? Because of the unexpected. Being debt free except for my mortgage won't help me if I get transferred or have to move for employment and I need to buy a new house. If I've got no credit score, or one in the 400s nobody will touch me. If my house burns down and I rebuild with insurance, the insurance will pay off my mortgage but I won't be able to get a new mortgage for my new home.

I can damage my credit with the decisions I make to pay things off, but I don't want to wreck it.

Dave can pay cash for a house. I can't
