My daughter just received her acceptance letter for the 2015 Spring Advantage Program. QSFB. :cool1: We're pretty excited. She is my second daughter to participate in the program. My oldest was in the 2013 Spring Advantage in Merchandise.

My oldest daughter was just accepted as well. She had interview in mid September and was just accepted this past Friday. She has not gone on line to accept the offer yet as she needs to clarify a few things with her college on credits. She will do that Monday and then accept. Then we will see what it is that she will be doing.

Thanks for the info. My DD had her phone interview the last day in Sept. We're trying to get an idea about timing since we have a paid in full cruise in Jan. :dance3: I hope she knows by the end of Oct.

It took me 5 weeks and 3 days to hear back. I applied on 8/20. Had my Web Interview on 8/20. Had my Phone Interview on 8/24. And on 10/2, I was was accepted for Spring Advantage 2015 Photopass Photographer. They told me most acceptances would come out mid to late October, because they want character performer auditions to be completed before they make most final decisions. I specifically told my recruiter I could not miss 2 days of classes to travel to and attend an audition which is why i think I heard back sooner, but most applicants try to go to one which is why they changed it to hearing back after the auditions are finished.

If you have a cruise in January. There are 2 arrival dates in February on 2/2 and 2/9. Me, for example, I was accepted in Photopass and the ONLY arrival options I had were on 2/2 and 2/9, there were none available in January at all. So unless your cruise is in late January, you should be okay, as she should have the option for February dates. My CP will be February 2nd to August 7th, 2015.

Congrats!!!

How long after the phone interview did she hear from DCP?

My daughter's phone interview was 8/28 so it was roughly 5 weeks for the offer. From what I understand though the majority of the offers just started last week.

When my daughter picked her arrival dates there were only a few specific positions available for Jan 12 arrival. Everything else was Feb 2 or Feb 9. My daughter picked Feb 2. Jan 12 was not available for her role and she didn't want that anyway. We'll just be getting back from 10 days in Tokyo on Jan 5. This will be my girls first trip there (my second) and of course we'll be spending several days at Tokyo Disneyland/DisneySea.

Thanks for the info. We get back from our cruise Jan. 24. I'd like her to be with us since it will probably be one of the last family vacations for a while. Our older college DS hasn't been able to travel with us since he started college. He's studying marine transportation so he gets to go to the Caribbean for 6 weeks each Jan./Feb. Now to him, a vacation is being home.

So if she gets picked up by DCP, those Feb. dates would work perfectly for us.

If not she'll try for fall.

My DD was accepted for next semester. Her reporting date is Feb 2.
She had her phone interview day after Labor Day and heard from them just about exactly one month later.

Now I am anxious to book a room. Wish I could do it now!

I'll be driving with my daughter from Texas on the weekend of Feb 1 for her Feb 2 arrival. I booked All-Star Movies for this trip simply because the rate was competitive with the Holiday Inn across from Vista where check-in is located. It is early enough I could actually book on property to drop her off.

Hi Mike. I see you're close by us. My daughter attends college in Fort Worth. Does your daughter go to school around the metroplex?
My daughter will also be there for Spring, but isn't sure how to approach getting credit for it.

My daughter is currently attending Richland College. She actually finished high school through their program and got her HS diploma and her Associate of Arts degree at the same time. I know DCCCD doesn't give credit for the program. I'm not sure how many 4 year colleges actually do. You would need to check with an advisor at the college to see if they offer credit for the program. That's really not been an issue for us because the work experience gained is worth more than a couple hours credit.

Our DD just got accepted Friday for 2015 Spring for Merchandise. Her phone interview was Sept 7th and she heard on Oct 10th. We are all so excited. We already booked 3 trips - to move her in on Jan 19th, Feb break (using a PIN that our other DD got :) ) and Spring break.

I have a question about your oldest DD. Where did she work in Merchandise? Also was she able to take additional shifts in different places? Where did she live? We are working on that now. We think it is weird that some of the Dorms do not have buses. Especially that the Commons do not have a bus to MK.

Thank you for any information that you can give me and we all share in your excitement. It is a win-win for everyone - our oldest DD gets to work there and the rest of the family gets to visit DW many times.

My DD applied 8/22, phone interview 8/28 and was accepted 10/3. Only trip I've booked for the moment is to move her in Feb 2. We're definitely going Spring Break which is the week of 3/8. Haven't booked that one yet. Will try to get into the Cabins at Fort Wilderness or a Wilderness Lodge Villa with her discount. Of course there'll be another trip 8/7 to pick her up and probably 1 or 2 more in between.

My oldest DD worked in Once Upon a Toy. That zone also included Trend, Mickey's Pantry and another store or 2 I think. It was difficult to pick up hours in your own zone but you could pick up hours in any other merchandise location if desired.

DD lived in Chatham, Commons and Patterson. She liked Patterson the best.

Patterson, Chatham and Commons are all co-located. The main CM bus stop for that complex is at Chatham. Some buses also stop at Commons but not all. My DD did say that Commons does have a bus to MK and a couple of the other locations with lots of CPs. Vista is located separately and has its own bus stop.

I can answer a few of your questions as an alum.
First, Merchandise is a Global Role, so yes, you can pick up shifts in different resorts, DTD, and all four parks, plus the water parks. :) I have not worked in Merchandise, but I know people who have, and they did that a lot.

The only complex that does not have a bus stop is Patterson, because they are close enough to share it with Chatham. It's less than a 10 minute walk, some people have said it only took them 5 minutes to get to The Chatham stop from Patterson.

I never tested it because I lived in The Commons. You are right about not all of the buses going to The Commons, but they DO have a Magic Kingdom bus. The Commons have buses to all 4 parks, the water parks, DTD, Wal Mart/Walgreen's/The Post Office / Publix and The Florida Mall. The only buses that do not go to the commons are The B bus, which goes to The Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom, and some resort buses.

Magic Kingdom has two buses. Both the A Bus and the B bus go to West Clock (Backstage at MK). The A Bus also goes to Fort Wilderness and The Contemporary, the B Bus also goes to The Grand, the Poly and TTC. Both buses have access to get to MK as a guest in the front of the park.

I normally took the A bus since the B bus did not go to my complex (the commons), i would get off at the Contemporary and walk the sidewalk to MK. it took me around 10 minutes to get to MK's front gates that way. You could also ride the monorail from inside the contemporary, but I never got around to doing that.

Once, when I took a networking class at Vista Way, I caught the B bus to Magic Kingdom. I got off of it at The Poly and took the monorail from there to the park.

If you have any other questions feel free to message me.

Also, congrats to everyone on their acceptances. I found out on 10/2 that I got accepted for my second DCP!!! Can't wait to go back. Going to be a Photopass Photographer from February 2 to August 7, 2015. I cannot wait!!!

Is there a set schedule for the buses?
Do they go to Walmart, for example, at a set time and pick up at a time?
Has anyone ever been stranded at Walmart?

The buses have a set schedule. They run roughly every 30 minutes until about 7 and then every hour after that to and from Wal-Mart. If people miss the last bus back the usually cab or call a CP friend with a car.

One more question... Do you know the furthest point north the buses go?

They only go to the parks, resorts, between housing complexes and Wal-Mart then there is one bus that once a week goes to the Mall. They don't go anywhere else unless they have recently expanded.

forgot about that loop as the walgreen's/publix/ post office loop stops early. The post office is one stop then Walgreen's/Publix is the next and then Wal-Mart. I usually was on the bus to Wal-Mart when the other places were closed so it just went straight to Wal-Mart and back.

The Mall has its own bus but it only ran once a week.
