My daughter has decided that she wants to stay in Florida to live and work at Disney when she is done with her Dcp. Any apartment suggestions or advice at all. This really does not surprise us as we live in Western Pa and there is just not much up here. Just don't know where to start to help her.

Thanks:)

Hello! Our daughter decided to stay in Orlando after she finished her college program Jan. 3rd. We are from Fort Lauderdale & she was attending college in Fort Myers. She found a place to live on Craigslist. She had 3 other roommates and she was subleasing her room only until June. She continued to take college courses while she was still in Orlando. In June, she found another roommate on craigslist, but this roommate was a nightmare. You just never know! My husband and I decided it was time for her to go back to Fort Myers and to her University. We had already signed a lease so we put an ad on craigslist and got out of her lease. Orlando had too many distractions and we noticed our daughter did not stay focus on her studies. She was having way too much fun! She might end up back in Orlando after she graduates because she is majoring in Resort and Hospitality Management. My advice to you is have your daughter look for a place to live near Disney. It took my daughter sometimes over an hour to get to work because of the traffic. Good luck to your daughter!! ;)

My daughter did a PI after graduation and is now fulltime. She lived at Bella Apartments and is now at Abaco Key. Both were clean, reasonable and safe. Her roommates are co-workers or friends she made during her CP and PI which is a better situation than a complete stranger from Craig's List. It seems life at Disney is lived in 6 month increments so there is always someone looking for a place to live. Also, most complexes offer 7 month leases which is a great option until she is sure of where and with whom she wants to live. God luck to her!

Thanks for the replies. She is still trying to decode if she wants to try to extend (which is what we would like) or go part/full time. I know that she is where she should be and she definitely has found her home. Just so many decisions to be made.

My daughter did this - although it's been almost 7 years now- she extended and then came home briefly for the summer to take a couple of classes at the Junior college. In the fall she started at UCF (in hospitality mgmt.) and got on part time at Disney. After she graduated she put in for full time and it took about 6 months before she got that. She has been here ever since.

She lived in UCF housing until she graduated and then we ended up buying a condo (it was during the crash of the economy and we got a great place for about a third of it's original price; and since we bought it it has doubled in what they are going for=-- so it was just good timing for us). She pays the bills here and we have a place to stay all the time as I intend to keep this for myself when she moves out. You can sort of tell when it's just the place they need to be.

What? She doesn't want to work at the Outlets?! Why, I'm shocked, I tell you.

;)

I think she's making a good choice! :thumbsup2
