Hi guys,

My DD wants to go to WDW for her b-day. No one else is able to get away at that time...she will be celebrating her 19th birthday. I'm leery about her being alone...she will fly in, be picked up at the airport by a limo service and stay at WL for 4 nights...I've always felt perfectly fine at WDW...but I'm worried about her...so how is it? Do you guys think I need to worry about her safety?

Yes, I know I'm an over protective Mom...

Wasabi girl--you shouldn't be any more worried about her going alone to wdw then you would worry about her going away to university--and maybe less. As long as she takes the normal precautions anyone should take when going anywhere these days.

Remember, there are alot of conferences and such going on at wdw--so the castmembers are used to singles. Relax, and try not to worry anymore then any normal mother would. :)

i would be just as concerned as i was if she was going off to college. that's it. Of course *MY* daughter is moving to NYC for school...holy smokes...no sleep for me for the next four years.

:)

Don't worry about her unless she plans on hitting the night life! I always go to WDW by myself and have never felt a bit uneasy, I have stayed at the WL and also POFQ. And am usually back in my room before 10pm. I have heard that if you do feel uncomfortable security will walk you to your room.

heck I would use DME before an outside service.

she will be safer with others who are going where she is - WL.

Disney allows 18 years old to check in without their parents.

relax - she will be fine.

besides I am sure she has a cell phone to call you with if any problems arrive.

Security is great at WDW.

one time this man kept bothering me. I kept saying not interested - I was there with my mother - but he won't quit. Security came over and asked him to leave.

She is too young to be able to drink and Disney definitely checks ID.

So don't worry!!!!

Thanks guys!
I KNOW that she'll be fine but hey, I'm a Mom, right?

We've got to use a limo service becasue she is flying into Sanford ($39 each way instead of Delta's $300 airfare). I don't think ME services Sanford.

I'm still trying to figure out how I can get away too....

what airline are you using? that is an excellent rate!!!

good luck!!!

we're flying Allegient Air which just started flying out of our airport (GSP) directly to Orlando...the low rates may be temporary but I'm liking it while it lasts!

My first solo trip to WDW was at age 19, and had no problems at all. I stayed at POR (it was DxL at the time), and I had a blast. As long as your daughter uses common sense when it comes to safety/security, she will have no problems.

I did a solo trip in June and Im only 19. I had a wonderful time, no issues what so ever. My mom was worried too but it really is probably the safest place to go alone. I had so much fun in june I'm going again in May 07 for my 20th birthday!!! I hope your daughter has a great time! Dont worry shes only a cell phone call away! If she or you have any questions feel free to ask me! :goodvibes

My whole family worries about me and I'M 45!!!! Really, I wouldn't worry, as long as she's comfortable with it. I remember flying out to LA on a blind date when I was her age...lucky for them, my parents didn't have a clue!
