I am glad you are successful in your marriage. It would not have worked for me.

It is very successful for the many, many interfaith families in my temple (our rabbi's wife was Catholic for half their marriage, before he became a rabbi).

I can understand and respect your feelings on that as they relate to yourself. I do not understand how some people in this thread think they can know if it will work for their child once that child is an adult though. Seems that would be up to the grown person to determine, not their parents.

May I also add I don't understand how some people in this thread feel a 16 yr old should have this all figured out and know exactly the type of person they should marry and be happy with for the rest of their life at 16 and only date those people.

My son is 15 years old and has already decided he is going to discriminate against smokers when dating. His allergies have helped him decide on that one!

Never say never! My DB was the same way. In fact at his rehearsal dinner, my mom was saying how she knew he would never date a smoker because he was so anti-smoking growing up due to allergies. The table got an uncomfortable silence, when someone said "did you know Sandy is a smoker?" She had no idea!
