We have a pick of the following dates for vacation. I know we are pushing it on being able to get a room. Already have Baylake for January 2-5 however we are wanting to go for a week now. What dates should we look at? We prefer a 1 bedroom but would do a studio.
Best to get a room thru DVC. I know its crowded the week of Christmas to New Years. Don't want it to be too crowded. Don't need discounts. Park hours would like later then 8 if at all possible.

More information would be helpful. Best for what, weather, crowds, discounts, longer park hours?

Sorry about that I added more information. We're military so we have our tickets and are cooking in the room for the most part.

Are you talking about 2012/2013?

If you're talking about 2011/2012, right now your only hope would be Jan.14-28. Nov/Dec are probably not possible and early January is tough because of the marathon, though more possible than Nov/Dec. Mid to late January would be easier to find availability for the entire week. Most DVC members book Nov/Dec at the 11 month windows. I booked my January 18-28 trip back in June and had to waitlist for the BWV standard view, but there was availability most places when I called, but that was 3 months ago. Are you looking to pay Disney's price for a DVC room or are you looking to rent points through a member. Both come from different availability pools. If you look online that will show you what Disney has to offer, but not what is available to members. Good luck. BTW, the hours in January are shorter, but EPCOT is always open to at least 9:00. You can check the hours on their website. The crowd level for mid-to late January are low, of course weekends are always busier.

We are looking at 2011/2012.
Yes I know it will be pushing it. I guess we were looking at the DVC reservation guide on here. It just seemed like there were alot of opens. We are DVC members however we can't plan out more then a month or two in advance.

The availablity guide will tell you only what people have reported as unavialable not what is available. I would say your best bet is to try for the January dates today when MS opens. Otherwise at least you have a short trip in early January to BLT.

Yes I know the guide is based only on what people have reported as unavailable.

I agree that getting a week for the dates you mention (except mid-late January) is a long shot at this point, even if you are willing to change resorts and piece it together. The late January dates are your best chance.

That said, if you prefer something else, call MS and see what is available. You never know. Cancellations happen all the time. You might get lucky.

Good luck!

One thing that does help is the fact that you're looking for a 1 bedroom. Since most sleep the same as a studio, many folks tend to gravitate towards the studios to save on points. I agree, I would call today to see what's available and make a reservation. If you're not borrowing points and cancelling will not be an issue 31 days out (all according to what U/Y you have) I would start checking out your options now. I agree, the "what's" available thread is good to help gauge, but by far not a great indicator of what's available. I use it to alert me that I might have a problem around certain dates when booking a reservation. I've contributed my findings to that thread many times. Good luck.

Are you looking for DVC point stays? Are you a member? That will make a difference. If you are booking on cash through Disney Reservation Center, you may have a better chance of getting your dates in 2011. But if you are looking for points stays, you are not going to find much at all. Especially not a week at a time.

Call member services. Our speculation is pretty meaningless, especially when you can get a concrete answer immediately.

That said, your best shot is the last set of dates but I wouldn't put the odds very high. Anything that includes New Year's Eve has been looooooonng booked solid. Likewise dates around the WDW Marathon and Martin Luther King day.

May still have a shot at something like SSR or OKW One Bedroom in late January. But it could prove difficult to get 2 consecutive weeks at a single resort if i'm reading the intent correctly. Consider changing resorts mid-trip if necessary.

And be prepared to book immediately when you call. If you call just to get info, and then proceed to spend hours or days mulling things over, researching airfare, etc., you will find availability quite different when you finally decide to call back and book.

We are members so looking for points stay.

I didn't want to call member services until I knew when we were getting leave. I'm planning on doing that today.

Only need a week would be willing to do less and don't mind moving resorts some.

Thank you all for taking the time to post. Hopefully we'll be able to get something.
